Hello. I am a new player to Eve. This is the first time I've played this game and I've been playing for 3 weeks. I love the game and I think it's fantastic. I wanted to put here in this thread all the care and devotion of myself and other players who want to see the game be the best it can be.

Firstly and firstly thanks to you devs and GMs that work on this and I hope that we can help each other create actual improvements that we all see are necessary.

===================================================================================================

Okay, I personally would please like to have the Mining Drone: Mine Repeatedly command, that is found by right clicking, to be defaulted to the Drones: Engage Target command shortcut....

pleeeeeeeeeaaaase.....please just connect that functionality together. It doesn't make sense to be able to attack the target with all drones, salvage the target with all drones but NOT mine the target with all drones through that shortcut....it just makes no sense.

There are many other quick fixes I have seen to this game as a new player that I would love to see. I hope to put them up here for review.

Thank you all. And I hope this can be a thread for building up the game and not tearing it down.

First : the option is there, you just have to use r-click and mouse toward the bottom of the list that pops up.
Second : Everyone knows the drone UI needs some major love. Some day we will get it.

Here is another huge one:

Please...please create a setting in the game settings where players can determine how much time they want before their chat channel window, inventory window, whatever window is automatically deselected.

I can't tell you how many times it happens where I'm talking in chat and mining and I am typing all my shortcut commands to fly, target, mine, whatever into the chat channel.

Please, if I could have a setting that deselects the windows automatically after 15 seconds even, then I would be able to maneuver probably 90% of the time without a hiccup.

Appreciate it thanks.

Click once in empty space beford using keyboard shortcuts.

Seriously, you're mining. It's not like taking a quarter of a second to make sure your not still typing in chat is going to reduce your income.

Guys take a better attitude. These are small changes that benefit the game. It's not needed to take a stand against another player on account of what they see would benefit the game.

Don't make it immature. It's just one feature and yes, such a setting would benefit the game.

regarding the drone 'mine repeatedly' command:
+1
this has been a pita for some years for me now

regarding deselecting chat window:
-1
this would annoy the hell out of me within about a week..... I frequently don't type in chat for about 30-40s whilst I await a reply.....
also, not worth the dev time for something that 90% of people would be unlikely to use
it's not that hard to click once in empty space (except when PVP, but you're not chatting then anyway)

you do realise that any time spent developing your ideas means less time spent developing their ideas/CCP's ideas......
why should they take a better attitude, the point of this forums is for you to put up an idea, and for us to rip it to shreds if we can, if we can't - it's a decent one, only the REALLY good ideas get loads of upvotes.

I've not seen amything immmature, it's two features you've suggested, and I don't think the second 1 would benefit the game (certainly not me!), the first would, but is a questionable use of dev time.

For posting an idea into F&I: come up with idea, try and think how people could abuse this, try to fix your idea - loop the process until you can't see how it could be abused, then post to the forums to let us figure out how to abuse it..... If your idea can be abused, it WILL be.

Alright the setting would be in General Game settings where the people who care could set that setting and the people who don't can continue to click in empty space.

The availability of the setting is all that is needed. It would not change your game play at all. These are small changes that do in fact help the game and I know that there are many people who would use this setting. So you are not representative here and that is what I'm pointing out.

Thus, "ripping to shreds" other people's points is purely selfish since there is a large majority who would want to see these changes although they do not take the time to post here. Thus, in effect your strategy is begging for a fight to see who will argue the point for it, more than those who would argue against it. But this thread is not the council for deciding on making the change or not. It is only a post of what changes we would like to see. There is no real need for a discussion about them. And that tactic is most certainly not how to get things done or how to improve upon a project in general. All of you Eve guys are clearly staunch in your opinion that being cruel or rough is the way to live but it's not. Anyone can be a warrior and be at peace as well. This is not the place to be at war. So relax guys.

Which is why you guys need to refrain from negativity and let the idea stand for itself. You don't need to do anything if it is not something that is important. Otherwise you may say why it would functionally hinder the game but none of that has been said yet.

Personal opinions are good but they don't get center stand here in this thread.

Thank you. What small problems have you seen that could have some fixing in Eve?

This thread is purely about the little things. None of these things will necessarily be game changers but they can make the difference for many players. The UI in Eve is known to be unforgiving and here is a place to give it some more grace and elegance, if possible.

I'm a software developer myself and have done this thing many times. I know the importance of little things and they usually can mean the difference from a dropped trial to a subscription.

F&I is quite a caustic place because there are any number of not-exhaustively-thought-out ideas. If you do not have mod tools, you're really not in charge of the thread, and it is everyones job to try to figure out probable exploits. Most of all it is your job as the person starting the thread to look into this. New players are very valuable, but frequently do not understand the fine balance(s) the game has.

Now to the suggestions, no from me for the chat window timer, one click is not onerous.

No from me regarding the drones auto mining. Drones do not repeatedly mine in order to frustrate casual afk miners, or so I interpret. Regular strip miners aren't fire and forget, you have to shift asteroids, distances, crystals, etc.

A drone that just harvests endlessly would require very very little actual game client interaction, and the ship most likely to use such(orca) can be very effectively brick tanked for higher sec mining.

Can't support the ideas in this thread, too easy to exploit and not really needed.

ed* BTW, I come up with a huge amount of bad ideas, write them down, poke holes in them, and then put them in the one line bad idea thread. on occasion i do start a thread but I expect and hope people will poke holes in the idea. I rely on certain people to do just that, and those are the most caustic, nasty yet thoughtful people here. No names need be mentioned they know who they are.

There is no real need for a discussion...

I stopped reading here. There certainly is a need for discussion. Discussion can turn a bad idea into a good idea. Discussion is how CCP is able to understand what the community wants, because in Eve the community matters. The only reason that you would want to avoid discussion is because you know that although your idea is not particularly bad, it would probably be a waste of time as anything more than an extremely low priority.

Don't get butt hurt about it. I posted an idea a few days ago about a change to corp chat. I thought it would be nice to be able to organize the member list to simplify finding specific people in one's Corp. I also figure that my idea would be a waste of time. As evidence, several people looked at my idea but nobody every replied to it, and it's now on it's way to the deeper pages of Features & Ideas Discussion.

I'm not going to bump it, I'm just gonna let it go. It's a minor issue. I'm not going to keep shoving my idea into people's faces because they ignored it. If someone else ever has the same idea, they can come here and do a search for related topics (if they're following the rules) and they can post their idea on my topic. If not, well, then I guess it's a waste of time, as I expect. At least it's out there, though.

And don't mind Ian. I think he's one of the bitter old dudes. He's obviously been around for a while and is short and brutally honest, likely because he's tired of all the stupid that he runs into on this forum. You should see how he tears into the really dumb ones. It's a thing of beauty, really. Lol.
