This suggests that either CCP need to find a way to make pvp more attractive, or, that the die-hard pvp folk need to accept that players are making it clear that non-pvp play is want folk want.

Or, and this is a crazy stretch but hear me out, the game allows for people to be able to do a lot of different things and people enjoy doing different things on different days.

I know, I know, it sounds insane, but just give it a chance.

Could you please explain what you mean by skillqueue changes being tied into lower 30 day moving average PCU numbers ?

Sound about right, for every combat capsuleer there usually should be between 6 to 12 others for support, depending on the level of pvp escalation.

I would rather see a percentual representation of the reasons why capsuleers fight in New Eden in a pie chartCool

That would be a more qualitative question than measurable quantitative. Lot of factors and reasons behind whys and what's.

You have to remember that Alta are a big part of those logins. With client broadcasting dead, pvp is one of the few activities not easily multi-boxed. Whereas mining or running a dozen afktars would skew the number down further. I imagine the number would be much different if it were based on actual players, instead of characters.

I'll use my own experience as an example. 9 characters across 4 accounts. 3 of them are rarely logged in but have about an even split of pvp vs non-pvp. 1 is being skilled and does nothing else. The other 5 are less favorably counted. 1 character is the pvp main, and kills or shoots someone almost every login. The other 4 are industry, market, and mining alts. They rarely shoot or get shot at by anyone.

So, out of all of those characters, it's not far off the mark in terms of pvp compared to not pvp. A little higher since my main logs in more, but still close.

@CCP Quant:

On the note of incursions, would it be possible to compare the amount of isk/lp earned to other activities that work similarly, like missions and anom ratting? And then a comparison to the number of characters that actually do aforementioned activities?

I feel like the 1.3% might be heavily skewed by characters that are not used for income in any way, or used as a secondary portion of a larger activity (market alts, Indy alts, mining, hauling, salvaging, boosting, could all be part of the same Line of income, even though only one person is running it).

Also I see no data on how big a portion wormhole sleeper sites are compared to any other activities. That would be interesting to see.

There is a gaping hole in the analysis. What about moon data? Did I miss it?

Specifically:
Amount Extracted
Same as above by Region
Number of reactions
Import/Export

...and other similarly important metrics that would shape the transition from POS mining to new structure mining and methods.

Unless I missed it, this is a pretty huge oversite considering the scope/potential/scale of the new structures. Part of that whole, why live in null thing remember...

Edit: ...having looked closer, I see this was covered in the CPI portion. However, I think it could stand to be covered in alot more detail and with much greater specificity.

As it is, they are just glommed in there with other commodities, but since the method for extraction of raw moon goo is tied to "legacy code" POS way of the past gear, which is getting a full makeover, it is very critical that we isolate the moon materials for further study.

Oh, I could not agree more dear chap Smile

It would seem that pvpers shout the loudest and do not not live up to their own hyperbolic tough-guy talk.

There are far too many folk in this game telling others that, 'they are not playing the game properly'

Pay your money and play how the hell you want to, has always been my take on how to play the game properly.

This is not a signature.

Good to see the econ updates are resuming, but a monthly schedule might saturate the interest you're trying to drum up and drown it into ubiquity, then finally into apathy.
Quality over quantity. Personally, I'd rather see a quality quarterly report over a mediocre monthly update.

Let's cut to the core reason behind the econ updates, it's not about the econ.
It's about refreshing the waning interest or generating new ones for EVE.

More accessible, less avoidable, not more attractive. Making PVP more attractive is putting lipstick on a pig.
I am curious how they measure that. What does it mean to engage in PVP?

Probably it means activating a hostile module on a player ship.

So, by that definition: I am not engaging in PVP if I warp in on a ratter, he is 50km away, and he warps before I point him...

it has to be measurable some how, I'm not sure that is clearly measurable in the logs. Or if I shoot a corp mate a few times to test something does that mean I pvp'd? Or if I run logi and don't shoot an enemy?

and those incursion stats Shocked

You're trying to convince new players its worth investing their time into EVE and its not worth it at this point, the future is very uncertain and you have to many changes in the air to say things are going to level out soon.

You need to STOP making so many changes, no one is going to spend years training just for CPP to go.. oh I don't like this anymore.. we can't change our skills on a dime like CCP changes plans and toilet paper.

Things need to change, like how CCP does things or I see a one hit wonder gaming company coming to its end soon.

Nobody is going spend more than a year playing if it's only down to training and playing one thing.

Could we please get some pie-charts (...) on how moon-mining and moon-reaction-materials are produced, exported/imported and prefferably also how much ISK they add to the game every month?

Also, the chart with ISK in player accounts and ISK in corp-accounts; a list of the say top 20 holding corps ISK summed up or something would be interesting! Also the sum of the top 20 (or so) richest single accounts might give a "hint" as to how many are ruling the economy in EVE.

And finally; how much capital is invested in POS:es and POS-modules, and how are they distributed per region, high/low/null etc. We can see the outposts on DotLan, but this info (on an overall level) would be interesting (where ARE those POS-farms REALLY?!)

Any possibilities to get these charts?
