Wow, this is a lot of awesome data. More opinions as I digest the numbers.

Also, I'll take this space to gloat a bit — Deklein, #5 production value in the game, behind only the regions hosting major trade hubs. Booyah!

Yeah, we sorta knew based on trade hub value. But yes, my smug at all the planning that made Dek the way it is today is enormous.

We need more isk sinks, that are connected to LP stores.

Reducing drop rate on some of the faction modules and introducing them to LP stores could help this situation.

Out of curiosity , how big isk sink comes from the implants?
I assume bigger part.

CCP Quant,

You should considering checking out Tableau as a tool to assist you in constructing graphs/visualizations. It will integrate with R and it provides really nifty features and allows for interactive data. The license for it is fairly priced, and its amazing what you can do with it in a short time!

Well interpreted figures without the bias forums have.

It is amazing how people can be proven wrong consistently and insist in making points moved by narrow minded conclusions of their own micromanaging experience.

That reminds me of the real World, and people doing the exact same thing.

YAY! DATA!

Do please provide more data regarding the PCU!
- like how many of them are active or passive (just sitting in station totally AFK)
- how many of them can be tied to how many people (read. number of accounts actively used by single individual)
- number of average (active or passive) accounts used by people
- etc.

The day everything you can have in EVE Online must be produced by players, is the day EVE Online will start some real problem.

Quoting "The Dark Knight":

Quote:
Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

Due to the policies enforced by EVE Online mechanics, the only agent who have the real reason to keep it running is CCP through the NPCs. Due to the lore and gameplay of EVE, contrary to the real World, the environment is very apocalyptic and most people are well described by that quote.

For most people in other games it would be unreasonable to spend thousands of dollars just to make a mess, because no matter what you do, the domain of the game universe is always NPC. The not so big difference EVE shows in that regard generated through its history a myriad of people ready to make their money's worth in power. Those people are only limited by the side of EVE that is indeed NPC controlled.

The day EVE Online neglect that power will be the day CCP gets in the position to be "Some men who just want to watch the World burn", because that is what will happen.

A game World with that kind of player control will interest little for people actually wanting to build something, yet that EVE mechanics clearly benefits destructing more than constructing.

If con is the opposite of pro, then is Congress the opposite of progress?

You can see some interesting and unexpected things like the fact that only 1.5% of players run Incursions and13.8% of players engage in PVPon any given day. The former is especially interesting considering the fact that incursion payouts were the 3rd largest ISK faucet in September, at 8.3T ISK, which you'll see this later in this blog, and on top of this is the added value of Concord LP payouts for clearing incursions.

I do so love this part. I run incursions from time to time and they are cool but the rewards the pay out are highly unbalanced in high sec because of the security that comes with being in high sec. This is why High Sec has spawned several incursion running communities while none have spawned soley for low/null incursions even though they pay better. High Sec incursion defenders love to deny that this imbalance exists.

High Sec incursions should be adjusted to take into account the value of having automated CONCORD response to aggressors, OR CONCORD should be turned off in incursion sites (perhaps with incursion sites offering instead defensive buffs to shields and armor like wormholes do to compensate, so as to not turn incursion sites into total gank zones but rather to just even out the risk/reward equation).

Any chance for You to share Your code snippets for generating those graph (im talking about the esthetics used and settings for ggplot functions, not the data source or anything altough that would rocks) for those of use learning to R?

Nice post.

QUOTE from 3. graf:
"Here you can see that, contrary to some conclusions that can be drawn from the PCU graph, activity is not going down overall. If we normalize it by unique logons, we rather see those numbers increasing, meaning that those playing now contribute relatively more to the sandbox than the general population in the previous years, which is a great sign"

But if you whant to compare don´t you have to take the prize index into account.
I mean to get those to, to make sens together. the graf of total value destroyed vs. the total value of end products has to be ajusted for prize change.

Ore am i missing somthing ?

Excellent blog, thanks.

I don't generally care about this sort of thing but incursions do seem to be paying out an awful lot for such a small number of players doing them.
