CCP - Option to purchase monthly SP's?

I've got a suggestion to help increase interest in this game for newer players and also help CCP earn a bit of extra revenue in the process. Why not offer a monthly chance to bump our SP's by 1,000,000 for a set price?

Say you allowed us to purchase 1 million SP's each month for $29.99 (or 2 PLEX). It can only be used once per month (per account) and has a countdown until the next time you can use it.

As a new(er) player, it's very frustrating to have to wait days for one skill to train while I'm eager to get out into Low/Null sec or into a new ship. I understand that this is part of the intended mechanics, but would it really hurt the game that much to allow us the option to purchase Skill Points once per month for a character?

1m SP is hardly going to be a game changing amount, but it would allow us to train some highly needed skills for a cost. We get the option to allocate the SP's how we want, CCP gets extra revenue. Everyone wins. Also, offering the ability to use either a payment or PLEX keeps it fair for those that prefer to use in-game currency to use it.

I've thought long and hard about this and it makes sense. I understand that training time is part of the business model and it keeps us subscribed while we train. Fine. But at a certain point, our skills take a very long time to train and it can be frustrating for a newer player. Offering us this option would not hurt the game as far as I can tell, but it would allow newer (and older) players the opportunity to train up while also adding extra revenue to the company. Also, keeping the option to use PLEX means that it is not a "pay to win" mechanic. Everyone has the chance to use it.

What are your thoughts on this? Is it a good idea? Would it hurt the game mechanics? Open to discussion here.

I would pop some popcorn but it won't be done before ISDs move this so meh, I'll eat popcorn later. Also, about the idea to help newbros, see CCP Games/EvE Online from 2003 to 2015 for how well doing things "for the children" works out.

Skill points and ships are not your barrier to getting into low/null sec. The gates accept pilots in any ship types...

CCP should add more NPC 0.0 space to open it up and liven things up: the Stepping Stones project.

things to do while you wait...

make isk to buy planned replacements. You will lose ships. I find it better to have the money to buy say 2-3 of your ships than lose ship, rat, lose ship, rat.

take your current ship, assumed frigate, and go to low/null. If not to fight...get BM's. Eve pvp goes beyond shot em up. Some planning involved. Like BM's. In what will be commonly hit systems you get you your safe spots, you instawarps and various ranges on say stations and gates.

For 0.0 gates commonly hit I can have many BM's. The instawarp, various ones at say 50, 100, 125. Fanning out in several directions. Why the 100 to 125? D-scan at later date is showing its hot, I have no choice but ot land there....so I land at say 100-125 to clear potential trouble (bubbles, decloak cans, bubbles and decloak cans, etc). This is how I have confused many a camp. Bounce off a not so obvious celestial, land at my 125 bm and chances are real good I have cleared any bubbles. And I am at a range and can make better decisions (as dscan will just say stuff is there, not how its arranged).

Do I see bubble city on gate...gtfo. At that range I get seconds more to do this as they have to catch up to me if usual fuster cluck in the predicted area a gate hop will land people.

Do I see common just the drag on the obvious route (gate to gate routes notorious for this)? Yes?, yay I have the hole shot to the gate. Do I take it? Even better with cloakies. Nothing like going damn you decloak arrangement is real nice. Except for this here hole I am slipping through.

Tl;dr....work out you navigation skills during this time. PVP does not mean dying like a muppet, some fights are best meant to be avoided. Practice that while training up that sp.

TBH whenever I joined a new 0.0 home I did not pvp or pve my first couple days there unless a CTA. It was move my crap in and then scout around and have a BM making party. Good BM's saved my ass more times than I can count, they earned their respect from me.

Shouldn't this be locked as redundant now that it is in the correct sub-forum?

Also -1 bad idea is bad. That goes for even the CCP developed bad version of this kind of idea.

If you don't follow the rules, neither will I.

After the obligatory "No" to your suggestion of allowing those with deep RL pockets to have a 12m SP/year advantage over everyone who doesn't, allow me to address this line.

There is no real ship/SP barrier to going into low/nullsec. I've played in every type of space this game has to offer during my decade playing here, and I can can count on one hand the number of times I've seen true low SP players being told they couldn't join a fleet. With a few specialized exceptions, almost every fleet doctrine I've ever seen has a place in it for meta-fit t1 frigates, even if that place is simply as hero tackle.

Your suggestion does nothing to solve the problem your imagining, because the problem doex not exist. Additionally, I will point out that your suggestion falls directly into line with Malcanis' Law.

That would create SP, i favor the CCP method with the extractor because it´s no buying its a transfer.

Im going to give you a pass because you're new. In Eve, everything is determined by a free market, and the value of everything is based solely on it's supply and the demand for that thing.

Right now, the only way to get a high SP character is to train them for years to get up to that number of SP. This makes them valuable because the number of them is limited, and the number of people willing to part with those characters is even more limited.

As you make them more common (IE more ways to get to a high SP number) they will get less valuable.

CCP is currently discussing the creation of a method of transferring SP from one character to another. This is a better solution as the number of SP in game stays the same, but it also adds another way for a character to get to high SP without putting in the time.

If a system like this is implemented, I believe it should be limited to characters below 20 million SP to keep people from simply dumping a bunch of skills into their heads whenever a new thing comes out and thus eliminating the sense of progression the game has.

Oh dear. It almost looks like you're not aware, of the current forum situation.

#tinfoil Or is it that the Devs have asked for any and all SP buying threads, to be over looked for now?
