SoE ships and Skins

While the Machariel is still one of my favorite ships, I have to say the SoE ships look great as well. The Sanctuary skins make a nice addition to the ship to say the least. I find myself going back and forth with the white and blue, however it usually stays on the blue now days... lol... Since obtaining my dream ship the Mach, my next in line is the Nestor. Having bought the bundle skin pack now I simply have to start saving the ol ISK for the hull. Never mind finding a combat role for it to play, with the new camera system coming I think I'll find myself talking more screenshots than shooting... hahahaha Hope you enjoy the screens!

Sigh.

Your ship model and texture is irrelevant.
All that matters is your colour on my overview. P

I will make you a deal.
I promise to kill your pretty blue SoE ships, if you promise to kill my Tengus and/or Guristas Ferox.

Very nice screenshots! Big smile

The Astero is one of my favorite ships. I love the default version and the skin versions!

Maybe you should post this stuff on reddit? Reddit is a much nicer/funner place to communicate with the community, and you'll get far nicer replies than all the downers in here.

If that is grey to you, let me suggest one of these for you... lol...
I assure you, if I'd paid as much for that skin as you did I'd be seeing what I bought whether it was there, or not. As is, having nothing invested in it, I'll call a gray a gray. With 6 hours of color theory behind me, and as a professional photographer, I tend to believe my eyes, and understand how people can sometimes see what they want.

What do the a and b values in L*a*b say?

I doubt gray, but the a and b channels will tell the truth. Even just the r g and b values in sRGB will do too.

Funny you should say that with your "6 hours of color theory"... lol... I was shooting with a Canon AE-1 more than 25 years ago... So, I have been a professional photographer for quite some time now and you don't impress me... Perhaps since you are a pro with one or two semesters of color theory you can now afford a better monitor... If you don't like the skins, simply don't buy them. However, attempting to hijack a thread with idiotic remarks such as yours needs to be taken elsewhere...

**edit** I also wanted to throw in something else since you are "pro" and all... If that is truly the case then you should know that just about every single monitor on the planet will have differing shades/hues next to another monitor... I have three 24" monitors, all of the same model bought at the same time, and all three have differing variations to them. However, my center monitor has in fact been calibrated to true color... "I assure you, if I'd paid as much for that skin as you did I'd be seeing what I bought whether it was there, or not." Really?!?! I spent $20 on the bundle and had AUR left over. My wife and I go out and spend 3 times that much on dinner alone... lol...

Your screenshots look great and I'd love those skins on my Asteros, OP.

I also second the suggestion to post this stuff on /r/eve on Reddit, where people are actually fans of all aspects of the game. I've never seen anyone mocked for posting a screenshot like this.

Very nice skins on some great ships. Good luck seeing them in action.

Note: Blue-gray on my color-calibrated monitor / dark gray on the other.

As a professional photographer, you of all people should understand how people interpret color differently and how variable screens are at reproducing color.

That SKIN is not gray and there are only a couple of gray areas in it (most of what I see as gray on the underside of the ship is slightly red in most places, which I assume is from the lighting off a nearby planet or something with the new lighting). But the SKIN is very much a blue.

Well even my own eyes don't see eye-to-eye.

They see colours slightly differently.

Personally, I'd prefer an all glossy black hull with soft blue lighting.

Yes, that's not uncommon.

There are even some women that are tetrachromats (4 cone types in their eye instead of 3 like most of us) who see color different to how most of us interpret it (it can only be women with this unique ability as the genes for cones are located on the X chromosome). I have often wished I had that ability myself. Tetrachromats can typically see about 100 more colours than most of us see.

But differences from one eye to the other is not uncommon either and perception of color changes with age also.

Raata Sunset SKINs are not artistic at all.
