Player vs. Character Knowledge (or Lack Thereof)

As a relative new player - just over 2 months - I've decided I would like to get involved in more of a roleplaying aspect, at least for myself. My dilemma is this:

As a pilot, I would have certain knowledge of New Eden. Especially of my race and the history of the area I grew up in.

As a player, I don't have any of this knowledge... yet.

In an attempt to make sense of this I decided that there was some sort of data corruption during my last medical clone transfer which resulted in my loss of memory of history. I could also use this to explain why something isn't known by my pilot that normally should be.

My question is wold this conform with current canon? Is there a better place for me to bring this question up?

Thanks.

The Intergalactic Summit is the RP section of the forums, that may be the best place to ask. I'm unsure of the rules in there so it might be wise to mark it as an out of character lore/canon question.

From one of the replies below probably not a good idea for any other newbies that may read this, I'm not familiar with the RP aspect of the game and it seemed the obvious place to point the OP at. My bad.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Welcome to New Eden.

Start at the bottom right and read the chronicles to the left by row, then up. Good luck.

The more I read the forums over the years, the more I swear. To god. That the typos are intentional mistakes. Part o f the encryption.

That would work for the most part, and don't ask in the intergalactic summit, unless you wanted to somehow ask it in character (where you would probably be treated like you were crazy). Eve fiction would be where you would want to ask things like that. You might want to get familiar with the chronicles as mentioned before, eve source (a 100+ page book on eve lore), or the novels out for more info. There's also a few websites such as router 109 and eve-inspiracy to ask questions and ingame ooc channels for both of them.

Thanks. I was wondering in what order to read those.

Thank you. I'll post in Eve fiction.

After receiving some feedback from other sources, I've decided that the "data corruption" idea was not the best. I am now going to play my character as if he has the knowledge , even if I personally don't. I will just research the issue learn as I go.

Since I had written this scenario into by blog, I've decided to treat is as a dream and nothing more.

Also remember that no one can know everything about the universe. IRL, even the most well-informed person can't know all the details of history and current events.
