I think "woop woop" is an appropriate mark of appreciation for this. *draws police lights on overlay sheet*

Also +1 for paying attention to Crew Guidelines in the future. Or have Falcon delete that wiki page entirely if it's too antiquated, and we can just stop linking to it like it ever mattered one bit. Blink

But please, no crew. Certainly not in anything smaller than a capital ship, and even then crew should only have a minimal presence. The notion of 'ship crew' in Eve has always been a debatable 'feature' that has no in game manifestation (otherwise you would see them in the market). Eve ships are fully automated vessels that tap into a capsuleer's subconscious functions via capsule technology. That's what those holes in the back of a capsuleer's neck are for (as well as skill training). This enables a capsuleer's ship to run an maintain itself (with the help of full automation). This direct link between the capsuleer's trained mind and the ship enables a minimal latency between pilot command and ship response, despite capsuleer ships being so large. This, combined with the lack of a need for any cumbersome life support systems (for crew), defines the superiority of capsuleer vessels over any other and is the primary reason for the rise of the capsuleer.

The ship communicates all this into the capsuleer's brain in the form of spreadsheets. Who'd have thought?

Actually way back before your time, EVE had info about crew. Go google it, you'll find all the information from years ago about crew.

There's no debate, most ships have crew.

Been around since the beginning.

Why draw things that are not ingame? Yes it would be cool if our ships had a fusion reactor and a magnetometric sensor suite and whatever... but they don't.

Actually, they do...

Check out the build requirements for Tech II hulls when you get some time Smile

Posted by CCP and ISD. Many capsuleer ships DO have crew. A capsuleer just reduces the amount required.

And capsuleer superiority primarily comes from the fact that we are effectively immortal, not because of ship/pilot interfacing. I'd say being able to respawn and learn after making a mistake in combat is FAR more advantageous than simply being "plugged in." It's also the reason why DUST514 mercs are so powerful in comparison to regular soldiers. They have no reason to fear death like normal people do and have unparalleled combat experience. See the movie "Edge of Tomorrow" for a Hollywood example.

I know the Eve lore stuff regarding crew is there - I simply don't like it. Given there is barely any evidence of crew in the game itself, I'm suggesting another way of looking at this aspect of the fiction of Eve, using examples. Feel free to ignore.

The lore explains the intense hatred of capsuleers by normal humans and the reason why SOE for example regard capsuleers as insane psychopaths with no concern for human life.

Without the millions of deaths of normal crew every time we blow up a ship, capsuleers would instead be seen as heroic godlike figures of legend not just "Legends in their own mind".

Considering the current trends in hot rod cars, how about you guys create that Comet model in-game and either:

1. Give us a skin that has transparent panels where we can see the innards, perhaps with some cool neon lighting, a la hot rod style, or

2. We spin a lot of ships in-station, how about model the innards for all of them, and let us pay ISK to enter "maintenance mode" in-station, and be treated to a view of the ship with its innards exposed and some maintenance drones buzzing about doing whatever repairs. That way the in-station ship spinning can get a bit less boring (and we spend some ISKs).

Cool picture. I am a bit curious though but aren't the ships piloted by capsuleers supposed able to be piloted by normal pilots as well in New Eden? I noticed there was no bridge. I ask because you can clearly see bridges on the atron, rift er and crusader hulls.

I thought shuttles were the only ships capable of being crewed by only one person?
Don't frigates need a crew compliment of 50 to 100?

I mean unless the comet was designed JUST for capsuleers. It doesn't make much sense.
