What is EVE to you and is it your primary game?

What is EVE to me? Don't have an answer now, will need to think about it and decide whether is it safe to share or don't.

But as for the second question, yes, it is primary. I only play one game at a time, and so when i'm playing EVE that's it. Now I'm taking a short break so I don't play EVE but WoWs, but I know that games like WoWs never retain me. MOBA is not my genre. Neither themeparks (I totally hate gated content and level-locked maps and the bull).

Eve is first mmo i played and it was primary for a time of couple of years.

To me it was best game once, now it doesn't look like that and when I calculate how much time I spend now compared to before I can't put word primary in it.

Focusing on one game at a time, EvE is my companion for more than 2 years now. Played other (non-MMO) games before and will probably do in the future, but nothing attracts me more than EvE atm. Actually experiencing EvE "devalued" a lot of things I used to have fun with in other games ...Ugh ... though I will certainly take a break for Mass Effect Andromeda and Thimbleweed Park next year.

I'm my own NPC alt.

EVE to me is a difficult and deep mmo. Something of a dying breed of yesteryear. I really dislike f2p games, no fan of any of them, none. I played some that turned into f2p, left. EVE offers one of the last refuges for oldschool mmo players. What was the PR campaign years back? "EVE never fades". That means to me something that is, but doesn't change yet remains, to no compromise. CCP had a vision, something they have strived to pursue, differently than other games, differently than the latest fad game idea or clone.

Not always the case, there has been confrontation, players vs developers (e.g Jita riots). But out of it, they showed integrity, didn't just blow off the vets and strive for players they didn't have (I can name games that did), it drew me back. I think the game means to them more than just a job, more than just some way to make a big quick profit. I can respect that, and keeps me here. EVE is an art; the art of game development. That just seems something you don't see any longer, beyond the eye candy.


Yeah, my primary game. If I'm not playing EVE(or not subbed), I'm playing nothing. I took some time off late last year and into early this year, I was playing nothing, dealing with irl stuff. If I'm not playing EVE, I'm not playing anything. EVE is first for me, even in my thoughts when not playing, to a degree. It challenges my brain, requires thought and planning, I like that. I play a couple other games, they are challenging too, but when I decide each evening what I'm going to play if anything, EVE comes to mind first in the list.


If my answer for the first is "EVE is not a game", do I need to answer the second ?

Carnal rule of gun trade: Never pick up a gun and join the costumers.

Work around spies for a while, and you learn to be careful when it looks like you're getting what you want.

Eve, the way I play it most of the time, is a pixel version of knitting, relaxing, and a way tp pass a few hours when I am in the mood.

Its something i can vent my frustration and take my angr out. Like a car horn.

When i have a bad day i logon and blow up some noobs or miners or carebears and scam them and cheat them and hopefully make them cry.

Makes me feel better to steal there happiness.

only game i play, and i plan to be one of if not the last guy out when the lights go off.

EVE is about players and the human condition and experience. I have found no other game where i can play with russians, american,s ozzies, euros, asians, etc on a single sever doing the same things and fighting for he same stuff.

Its that story, all of us together, that make eve compeling and insteresting. The day eve is shardered (china server don;t count but i wish it did not exist) is the day ill bid adue to eve

Eve to me has been a mixed bag. I found Eve in 2009 after leaving the U.S. Navy. 3 months later I was well into my depression stage and started spiraling. I found myself not wanting to leave the house, I didn't want to see my friends or family, no contact with the outside world. I found Eve, played it for extremely long hours since I didn't have a job. I met great.people who I am still in contact with today. After I started working and had popped from my depression shell, I took to helping run corporations. This later moved into helping start an alliance that failed. It then moved into running the official Eve Corp for one of the biggest U.S. military and veteran gaming communities, Military Gamers. This corporation helped me more than any in dealing with normal life and really helping me throw off the final remnants of regret at leaving the military.

Now I am running a small nullsec alliance along with my military gamers family, and some other friends I've made through the years, and while running an alliance isn't easy, I enjoy the challenge. The challenges are what drive me to continue, and ultimately are why Eve is my main game. Sure I occasionally play some other games, usually with my little brother. I always come back to Eve at the end of the day.

Eve to me has been challenging, fun, therapeutic, and ultimately has changed my life for the better with the support of the great people I have met and friends I have made. I even made an Eve character for my son the day he was born and named it after him! Eve won't be replaced for a long time, and I look forward to years to come and new friends to be made.

I knew I was hooked when I started playing the game in my head. The only other game that's really gotten in to me that way is Minecraft. But Minecraft is largely about what sorts of crazy things I can do by myself, and EVE is largely about how to navigate a dangerous and unknown, but beautiful and profound, landscape with some friends.

I've tried a lot of other MMOs by now. I try them just to see what's up. Not a single one of them has stuck. The only things left in the queue are The Secret World and a revisit to WildStar, and the latter only because I read a blog post on how to shut off the infernal UI and just get around with the minimap, and how that gives you enough information to immerse yourself in the strikingly beautiful game world. As for the rest of it: meh.

Even when I'm not playing EVE, I'm playing EVE. That's amazing to me.

EVE is just one of many games I play. It's a form of relaxation - I get to listen to nice ambient space music while exploring pretty solar systems. I care little for 'good fights' or the meta. I will never take a leadership position because I simply don't care enough to bother. I leave all that crap to others. I have no loyalty to EVE, and I won't 'HTFU' - if it's not fun for me I'll just play something else, simple as that.

very much swings and roundabouts for me.

i'v played along time, I go through periods where I play alot of eve, then i'll get bored and play something else.

I always check the forums though, keeping myself up to date. I am currently in a period of not playing much at all, but I am sure that will change again in a few months, my isk will still be there when i come back and my skills will continue to grow.

I admit I used to play alot more when my friends did, they have mostly all quit now and I don't enjoy making new friends as I did, however I still talk to the old friends just not in eve anymore, normal RL texts and the likes lol.

I wouldn't describe eve as my primary game at any moment in time, rather it's the one that bears keeping up with long term.
