I don't understand why some people are so upset. From what I understand the game won't be limited to a controller, you'll have the option to use a mouse and keyboard as well as the Move or a controller. If you want to play it like a PC game go ahead and to be honest a game like Dust will be better on the PS3 than the PC, then at least everyone is on the same standard.

Having Dust on PC could be a fail flop in it's own right, just like it could on any console. If having a better rig meant being on top of the hill then essentially people can just buy their advantage. It's better this way.

Also a game like Dust on PC is far more likely to be hacked and modded then a PS3 counterpart.

actually sid'nova the likelihood of hacking is based on the stability of the game engine it is based on. In this case the unreal 3 engine.

Also the "pay to have an advantage" bit is a load of bull. nearly any modern computer of mid to high end can easily run UT3 and the unreal 3 engine. The only difference is for the lower end PCs there are these things called "graphics options" lol that is the beauty of the PC, the ability to change the level of detail in a game.

I mean have you ever played an FPS with your thumbs? its ludicrous to think this could be done. Anyone whining about this is foolhardy !

It's kinda ludicrous that there are PC fanbois here who don't believe there are millions addicted to Halo and enjoying it just fine with their thumbsticks.

You're absolutely right though, it only works if EVERYONE's on thumbsticks. its arguably slower and less responsive, but still fun and balanced if you're used to thumbsticks and everyone's using them.

Your observation is exactly why we WONT see a PC version of Dust 514 - this is a console game. PC players would indeed smoke anyone trying to play with a Dualshock or Move controller, so its not going to happen. CCP doesnt need the revenue bad enough to try to push sales numbers fast and open up more platforms....I sincerely doubt we'll see a "PC fallback" cause they aren't selling PS3 copies fast enough.

I know its tough medicine to swallow, but there are just as many intelligent adults who enjoy playing video games on a couch with a controller as there are that prefer a task chair and a keyboard. This is a chance for CCP to share the love with the other half, and why not? This allows more people to enjoy one of the deepest gaming worlds out there. Platforms and input methods are simply personal choice - at the end of the day this just means that more gamers will have a chance to experience New Eden in their own way.

CCP have hinted that DUST may well be keyboard and mouse compatible on the PS3. So instead of arguing like children why don't you all just sit down, suck it up and wait and see.

What??? Actually see how something turns out before we all pass judgement? Such rationality in online forums is unheard of.

+1

For the record, I personally could care less whether Dust is controlled by thumbstick, mouse, or Wii-mote. Games are games, i enjoy them regardless of platform or input method as long as they are fun.

Including KB / Mouse support would be a nice gesture at least to all the PC shooter fans dismayed by the console decision. I hope its included, unless it becomes overpowered. My guess is that if a PS3 mouse user is smoking all those that use dualshocks, they may just have everyone use dualshocks / Move guns. Perhaps this will be ironed out in the beta tests?

You're right though, panic and fury are all premature at this point. There's a ton we still just don't know about the game.

I agree with pretty much all of what you've just said, albeit we are on opposite sides of the War - I salute you.

The only reason I'll be playing is because I got a PS3, for all intents and purposes, dropped in my lap. I certainly wouldn't have considered buying one solely for DUST. But I've got to say now I have one I am eager to see the release and have applied for Beta keys with all my accounts.

On a side note I've also registered for the Planetside 2 Beta. Which should also be awesome... I loved Planetside, until the expansions. Anyway I shall not derail further!

I feel like I just went over this a couple pages ago but since you seem to be extra slow we'll cover it again.

First, people use PCs for more than FPS games. I think this is where your logic (or lack thereof) steered you wrong. You need to be looking at FPS sales by platform.

http://www.vgchartz.com/worldtotals.php

Check there for video game sales. You will see that the highest performing FPS game on the list is Call of Duty Black Ops.

COD Black Ops Sales:

Xbox: 13.25 million
PS3: 11.23 million
PC: 1.32 million

Consoles outsold PC by about 18 to 1.

Next most successful FPS game would be COD Modern Warfare 2. Those sales figures are as follows:

Xbox: 12.67 million
PS3: 9.77 million
PC: 65 thousand

Consoles outsold PC by 34 to 1.

This type of sales gap repeats itself with any major FPS title. Anybody that tries to infer CCP is going after a smaller FPS audience by going with a console over PC couldn't be any more incorrect.

I'm kinda confused. I got an email saying that I was eligible to sign up for beta access. Then in the fine print I read that only players living in Europe and the US will be granted access. Which sucks as I am in Australia.

CCP what's the deal? Are aussies excluded from the beta?

If so, why bother sending out the emails in the first place, you already have the residential locations of players?

I've said this before, and I'll say it again. Technically, Australia falls under SCEE (Sony Computer Entertainment Europe). Which means that we should still be able to get in with that group. So pick that one and sign up for the beta.

Actualy Australia falls under SCEI (sony computter antertainment inc.) and its age rating isnt pegi.
Anyway Australia falls out of the boat by ts region code witch is 4 Europe has 2 still CCP did a great job getting the beta ready for two region at the same time.
Anyway i sighned up for the beta as i have a PS3 and love to shoot something to oblivion so +1 Cool

CCP,
at least, can you please give us an idea as to when you will be giving out the Beta Keys? By doing that, you will allow me and others, to stop checking our email every five minutes to see if you sent them. Thank you.
