So...is it just Standard Operating Procedure for there to always be at least one of these threads on Page 1 of GD?

Everyone can have opinions, and maybe other games are not like Eve, however i was just giving an example of why people are not playing Eve as much, and maybe play other games.

As for content i really find it hard to see how spending time making skins etc really help the game that much.
My opinion is they should have spent time looking into what they did add to the game such as FW, and maybe overhaul some areas of the game that need it rather than wasting time with aesthetics......

I have played Eve on and off for a long time, it is hard to fully please all players all of the time as we all look for different things in a game.
Eve will not die a death it just needs to give the whole game a massive overhaul.

Pretty much. I think CCP even start one if there isn't. I do know that EvE has been dying since I started playing.

I think you are on to something here... if we assume an isk-farmer rate of 100mil an hour, I'll happily pay a minions sub for 6-8 hours of menial slave-work a month (my house gets in a real mess, and the garden could do with some work) - at a current rate of 1.2k isk per Plex, thats 1/2 - 2/3rds the time. Bargain!

i think people play other games not because of the sub cost but because they dont want to dedicate so much time to a game like this and just want instant action games which they can pick up and put down whenever, eve has a niche market, as ccp said most of the playerbase are professionals in rl, designers, developers etc, these are people who thrive to do technical things which other games just dont offer.

skins is not the only content they have added to the game, they have added a lot, you only notice what is relevant to your gameplay and not the wider picture of whats been done.

Graphics are constantly improving
ship models
skins
new ships
new missions
sov overhaul
drifters
thera
incursions
upcoming new structures

im sure ive missed tons of stuff they have added but really i think they are putting alot of effort into the game

They can add toys into a sandbox, but they must be toys people want to play with.

At some point they need to look at the sandbox they put those toys into.

I may be blinkered in what i see added to the game, but i do see areas they could do so much with. like i said you may enjoy looking at different skins on a ship etc, but i dont, we are all different.
The new ships they added, they should look at ships we already have that are just not used.
These are all my opinions of course, and this is a thread about numbers in Eve, maybe we all have reasons why Eve cannot continue to grow but it will always grab new players it just needs to keep them for a while.

In reality Eve does not need players like me, who have played when the game was different to what it is now and expect the game to be the same as it was.
I have introduced many people to Eve and some have stayed playing in those years....i just bum around when i get time to come online after my Daughter is in bed, and the Wife has no need for social interaction :)

The call about game pulling players away. Is true, but always happening. If a better MMO comes out, of course people will get onto it. I think the dip will be less, but two major blockbuster games start of next year is pretty :D

I for one will be gone for a few weeks as i X-com it up.

Find people who play EVE around where you live and see if you can link them to PLEX price whine thread. If yes, make your offer.

Chance are it will fail because doing your chores will require effort...

Its inevitable people will move. I invested in Lotro more time and money than in EVE.

There are few other Free to play games I played while my EVE account was running, its PLEXed for few years ahead. There were weeks when I did nothing in EVE. Even lost a track few times of when my skillqueue is empty.

But I moved back to EVE eventually. MAybe because it was so easy with PLEXed account.

And that is why I never plexed. Even at their cheapest, time to isk is way more than time to sub putting a dollar value on my time.

Graphics had to improve, we were starting to get to the point the old engine would not work well on new hardware.
Ships is not really content, more like toys for the sand.
Skins... really?! does anyone even play zoomed in enough to see their own ship?
New missions are the burners, not everyone does them, while a good start they really need to give missions some attention.
Sov is the problem. Overhauled twice in 6 years and tweaked a dozen times. Not new content, just changing the rules of existing.
Drifters they are pulling back on
Thera is 0.0 without local
Incursions were added for the elite of the PVE and only a few hundred can participate at a time. Arguably most broken thing in the game.
New Structures are being slowly diminished to be like the old ones. See recent dev blog about them being Dread meat again.

You have to understand, when we say new content we mean WORMHOLES was NEW CONTENT.
FW was NEW CONTENT.
lvl 5 missions (they need 100 more agents in low sec) was NEW CONTENT

They have all this Jove space, all this Jove backstory.... add some Content

They have this lovely story about Jamyl of Amarr being murdered, start a civil war in Amarr and allow us to participate. NEW CONTENT.

There should have been comet mining, ring mining, content involving old earth, anything... but we get paint on ships and two massive changes to Sov.

CCP Quant: Of all those who logon in Eve, 1.5% do Incursions, 13.8% PVP and 19.2% run Missions while 22.4% mine.

40.7% Join a fleet. The idea that Eve is a PVP game is false, the social fabric is in Missions and Mining.

Will be interesting. A few, but big questions. A large part of the community is interested in drifter incursion update for sure.

This thread has been on page 1 for a month now. Are people really quiting this game as rapidly as this thread indicates? Everytime I Iog in, the Online numbers have been around the same as it was during the summer. Peak hours log in numbers are 32k-24k and the rest of the day it's been from 22k-14k. Those numbers have been pretty consistent for the past 6 months. I have no problem with the plex prices as long as they DON'T go above 1.5 bill. But I can't say the same for the majority. If the plex prices continues to keep rising then it's inevitable that the user base will drop due to lack of volume being purchased. In addition to this the biggest impact on the lowering user base is the new Sov mechanic which CCP is still in the early phases of revamping. Until CCP can get the new sov revamp working perfectly, I don't expect to see any rise in user base. It will remain at these levels until then as long as the prices in plex don't exceed 1.5 bill, in which case it really will start spiraling downwards to the point where CCP may no longer be able to balance the books.
