I was looking in the forums for any thing for what I was looking for but could not find it. So I will ask here.

I wish to join up or create a corp or fleet of people who on the regular basis go on rookie ship PVP roams. I know it sounds silly but I would enjoy such an activity and it would be a cheap way for me to learn. Its not the ship but the pilot.

Except in this case it really is the ship.

Don't get me wrong, it's fun as hell to do a rookie ship roam... but the damn thing is made of cheap tinfoil and shoots spitballs. Say a mean word around it and it falls apart. :D

That said... to die to a swarm of rookie ships is the ultimate form of humiliation.

Just collect a bunch of people (a lot of people) and Leeroy into low-sec. Bum rush the first thing you find.

When you encounter a situation like this, sometimes it is wise to acknowledge to yourself that there might be a reason for that.

Someone can correct me here if I'm wrong since I don't use the insurance system but doesn't insurance cover the cost of the hull?

If that is the case then a ship only costs you what the insurance cost you, of course plus what ever modules that you have fit but you are going to have to fit the noob ship also and I don't think that you can insure noob ships.

So the way that I see things is that you are risking the same or similar isk value in fittings but on a ship that was designed to be a step down from T1 frigates. So to me it seems like for the cost of insurance you are far better off just flying a T1 frig.

Also just as a general life note, you will have a harder time succeeding at anything when your focus is to try and reduce loss. You are usually more likely to succeed when your focus is on the goal i.e. focusing on loosing as little as possible and you are more likely to loose, focus on winning as much as possible and you are more likely to win.

@ ergherhdfgh...

- Rookie ships are free. Just dock in a station with none of your ships inside it in your pod. They cannot be insured or melted down.

- Rookie ships always come with a rookie mining laser, rookie (racial) gun, and a single piece of Tritainium (... just because).

- Because Rookie ships are only slightly more sturdy than Shuttles there is little point in fitting anything beyond cheap stuff. Fitting a tank is even more pointless.

- an ECM Ibis is hilariously effective for a "free" ship (a Griffin is still way better)... especially in swarms.

At the same time, the difference in effectiveness between a rookie ship with T1 modules and a T1 frigate with T1 modules is clearly noticeable in combat. They buffed T1 ships a while ago; there is now a rather large gap in power between the rookie frigate and the T1 frigates.

lemmingswarm used to do this. My lemming character was "Lemmingsaw Plankton" I think I biomassed him since. that said rookeships got a nice buff since then so it would probably be more fun now. Although t1 frigs are cheap enough I would probably just fly them instead :|

If I remember correctly, insurance is calculated on the cost of the minerals needed to make the hull of the ship, and rookie ships can't be insured or reprocessed for minerals. Allowing insurance or reprocessing for rookie ships would create a free ISK/mineral farming loophole, albeit a loophole with a very small ISK/mineral payout per ship.

Years ago in RUN Corp there was a player who use to plan Ops doing low sec runs in Rookie ships. He called it Noobfleet and later formed a corp with that name.

Anyway, they had lot's of fun doing it. However I don't remember if they actually won any engagements. If you do get a lot of players doing it, it could be successful. There's nothing worse than a slow agonizing death by a thousand stings. Course quite a few of the ships would need to be tackle since Rookie ships tend to pop quickly.
