In a shocking turn of events, Amarr Empress Jamyl Sarum was killed today in a Drifter attack. The attack was swift and brutal, as a Drifter fleet suddenly appeared in-system and destroyed the Empress' Avatar in a cataclysmic attack. It is suspect that a Drifter superweapon is responsible, but we will not know any more until further details are unearthed.

What evidence is there she is dead may I ask? If you saw the Avatar destroyed, that just means that the Empress' Avatar got destroyed. The number of people on the ship, even a corpse is not proof.

Well, they have found no body thus far, or a capsule, according to the Scope news report. It is likely the Drifters scooped her before warping out.

Published an article regarding this attack: Empress Jamyl Sarum I assassinated by Drifter taskforce!

Do note that normally the Empress should be dead, we know (OOC knowledge) that she is a capsuleer and can thereby return. this would be in violation of the Succession laws, so curious what will happen the coming week.

I see a pod, does not mean she was in said pod. Mwa ha ha. At least hope not. That is anticlimatic if so.

Her body dying is by no means the end of what could be happening - the crux of the story right now is the "Other" in her head - the two possibilities are that 1 - the Drifters are here to destroy it or 2 - the Other is their real head honcho and the Drifters are, indeed, the rest of the Others. Considering what's hitting TQ on tuesday, combined with previous evidence, I'm leaning towards option two.

Things are just getting started, don't you worry Blink

I was thinking that before post, I just mean to the Jamyl bit. If is dead, the Drifters took the body, meaning the body is out there. Going through info I have, there is a possibility to locate. Notably is that there is a warp direction that can be seen in the scope video and other videos. We have OOG 3d maps, so using the references we do have, it should be possible to get a direction and see if anything come up of if they bounced to the Avatar.

From roleplay perspective, it opens up opportunities since "The other" at best can be called in as hearsay. Plus other cliffhangars left off from templar one. For now as a roleplay/explorer, will be interesting in how the story unfolds. Body taken, so alive or dead is opportunity. If just dead, well, kinda sad that it was so... easy? I mean the presentation of force was just a bit too much. In reality, even capsuleers would be... F that and heading for the hills.

I was personally present on grid as the Drifters warped in and alphad the avatar class titan 'TES Seraph,' piloted by Amarr Empress Jamyl. Her pod was ejected and on my overview but I lost track of it after every Drifter warp scrammed it.

I'm afraid it was destroyed and it was reported that a Gila pilot picked up her corpse. Many scammers are claiming to have her corpse for sale. Bu tI cannot persoanlly say she survived and it is hoped that she had a clone she could enter and that the drifters have no way to interfere with that process.

I'm also seriously partial to the opinion at this point that Drifters/Sleepers are Statics or remnants of the Second Empire. Somehow intentionally or inintentionally their leader got in Jamyl's head.

From patch notes:

Missions & NPCs:

The Drifter armada has arrived and the time has come to step up and join the Navy Fleet in their battle to defend the Throne Worlds from this hostile attack.

What does that mean exactly ?

Sounds promising for those wanting drifter incursions.

It actually matches with the screenshots people in the past made that were related to Drifter-based Incursions. But since they are exclusively for the Throne Worlds at the moment, it seems that any Null-Sec pilots are out of luck.
