Are there any rewards for "linking our account to facebook"?

There's an option in the account management page to link our account to our Facebook account. Are there any rewards or goodies for doing that? In LOL, we got a freebie skin (just an inexpensive one, but we got the champ if we didn't have to too).

Yang answered your question.
I will add some advice.
Social media is generally used to bring attention to yourself.
Unless you know what you are doing in this game it's really best to keep a low profile.

Here is a perfect example.

CCP did have a contest in recent years to design new ships, had to link to your personal farcebook page. Pffffff...
Most people that could have participated, didn't.
Yeah, it's best to keep your full name and personal details out of the game.

Unless you count being treated as a product and sold to the highest bidder as rewards, it's never worth linking anything to your facebook account.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

I wouldn't be proud of that nor would i be linking it. It's nothing more than a gangbang troll fest. In case you people don't know it, this is New Players Q&A sub-forum, not General Discussion sub-forum. Good job on showing new players just exactly how 'Anonymity of the Internet' works. There's a big difference between correcting someone verses bashing them. Everyone who posted in that thread took a small phrase from the OP's blog and blew it up out of proportion in true GD style.

If it was GD, it would have been actual trolling. People actually gave constructive criticism, some went literally line by line, addressing his assertions. Perhaps people were overly aggressive (people are emotional, who'd a thunk it?) at times, but 'bashing' or 'trolling' it was not. You have this amazing habit of seeing something you don't personally like and approve of and painting it as bully gang-bash troll-bang puppy kicking evil.

I enjoy hyperbole.

It was perfectly applicable to the point I was trying to make. It is quite a bit more than a "gangbang trollfest" but I wouldn't expect you to be able to see past that. Hopefully the OP is more objective than you.

If you start waving your arms around saying hey guys look at me I know how to do this thing and I really am good at it, people will take notice and teach you exactly how you really don't know and you're really not as good as you think.

If you are not prepared to properly deal with the results of bringing attention to yourself then you shouldn't do it.

You can take your what is right and wrong and keep it to yourself, quite frankly that has no bearing on the reason the thread was linked.

Yes it was overly aggressive and most replies were meant to be hurtful. All aspects of trolling was posted under the guise of being helpful. It was indeed a troll fest gang bang with lot's of never before seen alts posting just to overpower and swarm the OP, all with the intention to ridicule and demean the OP. Of course the ultimate goal of chasing away the OP was quickly achieved.

Yeah, when I see something I don't like I usually make a generalized remark about it but I don't make it personal nor do I direct it to a specific person, just like what you're now doing to me.

Try practicing what you preach, that thread link has nothing to do with the OP's question.

By the way, escalating or inciting a forum flame war with others by making it personal just because they have a difference of opinion is a very bad habit to have.

Think it's time to call in ISD.

It does and I have clearly explained why it does, the only reason you can't see how it applies is because you can't objectively see through the "trolling and flaming" so that you can understand the point I am trying to make.

Also, defending a valid point is not inciting a flame war.

I would have to disagree,
it gives a degree of context to how the community can react at times and that is fairly relevant information when deciding to link to your social circle outside of the game.

The lesson here is : if you do, do so on a separate , partitioned account that you can filter or shut down entirely if necessary

That's precisely the problem.

I'm not doing anything 'to you'. I made a remark about how you tend to react in a lot of these situations, and how it's even more counterproductive than the behavior you are attacking.

Perhaps I shouldn't have brought it up, but I wouldn't classify my making an observation, as doing anything 'to you'. My sincere hope is that you take it as constructive criticism and think on it. We're not infallible, you, me, anyone, and reflecting on it can be a good thing. I do it regularly and like to think I'm better for it.

Anyway, if that example thread link was such an unacceptable "troll-fest" as the trol... er dmc insists, that thread would have been cleaned up and/or locked by an ISD rather than left to eventually close due to age. Rawhide!

A valuable lesson indeed, and tbh one that is as relevant in Eve as it is in real life. Social media has its downsides, privacy being one of them.
