Socket closes only one of two Eve clients

Very weird.

I routinely run two Eve clients on my machine and yesterday I had a scoket issue that disconnected one of my client while I was AFK.

Usualy, when this happens, both of my clients get this within seconds, but in that case my other client was all fine and still responsive. I reconnected my account and resumed my dual accounts AFKing :)

First time I see a socket issue affects only one of the clients on the same machine...

Check for, and disable any proxy.

Probably the #1 cause of EVE problems is stupid proxies installed by malware or "firewall" products.

Sockets are never closed, some just have child safety caps installed so you cant hurt yourself.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

If there are intermittent traffic interruptions between you and CCP's servers, this can happen. One client happens to lose sufficient packets in a row that it gives up. But the other, by chance, got one or two through during the intermittent traffic interruption period, and stayed up.

It happens occasionally and there's nothing really you can do it about it if you're ISP is solid.

I've had one client out of 12 socket reset for no apparent reason. My network connection to the severs looked beautiful all the way up to where CCP stops responding to ping. Not one of the 11 clients that stayed connected lagged in the least either. In most cases other games and stuff I have running never even has a hiccup. It's purely the server for me.

Of course if you're not monitoring your connection and the hops to the servers then it's possible one of the hops just went silly for a microsecond causing the socket reset.

Also a poor modem / router that can't handle many connections can be an issue.

Especially when it is blocking unwanted incoming connections.

Or it's more like welcome to last patch, because i also started to get alot of 'Socket was closed' messages everyday after the last patch. Before the last patch, i never had any issues this way.

Are you running them on the same machine or different machines?

I ask because long ago there were routers that did NOT come with switches in them.

Yes, at one time, routers and switches were different things.

So I was trying to run two clients at once on two different machines and was getting issues. I added a 4 port switch and that problem went away. I was using a Linksys router that was made I think in 1999 and it did not have the switch built in.

If this is a new or intermittent issue, I would look into the router/switch. Chances are it has an admin panel and

How do you run two clients?
Do you have two accounts or two characters in same account?
I tried to run my alt into game, but haven't been able... Other Socket just closed/logged off...

Have to be on separate accounts.

Yes, same machine, and yes I remember that time too :)

Yes, I use two separate accounts with one open client for each on the same machine

Has happened to me a lot actually. Or running mutliple computers one will shuffle off its clients mortal coil and the rest will be fine. So no not terribly weird imo. Frustrating yes, weird no. lol

Though I must say that when I had one machine running XP still, my oldest computer as I couldnt upgrade it to Win7 at all due to hardware issues, itd hiccup a lot. After that machine finally died and I was only running Win7 boxes its been a LOT better. Still get disconnects but not nearly at the same rate.

Have you heard anything I've said?

You said it's all circling the drain, the whole universe. Right?

That's right.

Had to end sometime.

I am having this exact same problem as well since last patch.

I am mystified by it; one client fine, one client socket closed.

Always cool to farm sites and suddenly one of your RR-domi quits fleet and warps off while the other is pointed :S
Usually you can relog immediately, sometimes it won't accept a new connection for 10 minutes - while other clients keep running.
