Hi,
Apologies if this has already been addressed elsewhere - but has the value of loot & salvage been nerfed recently? My "take" from belt rats seems to have noticeably dropped off in the last week or so. Of course, I may be going through a fallow patch but wondered if anyone else had noticed this.

I've not moved from my usual systems or anything so no change in that regard.

Ah thank you. I guess I'm just going through a fallow patch!

There have been several nerfs.

In high sec, belt rats use to occasionally drop an implant. Now, they never do. My guess is this change is because of things like the 750 million ISK Snake Omega I once got from a belt rat in a 0.8 system.

Also, minerals from reprocessing of loot has been cut in half. So any item which is in oversupply has had its value cut in half.

The remainder of loot value drop is due to market forces and randomness.

Risk VS Reward. If RNG would drop good stuff every time, why would people bust their asses in LS, NS or WH?!?

Sure, but none of those are recent or were snuck in without any fanfare. Pretty much every time the question “has this changed…?” comes up when related to drops (with or without an implied “stealth nerf” tacked on), it's just a case of RNG is R.

These days, any attempt at sneaking stuff in is doomed, and any change that will be even remotely noticeable will be communicated long in advance.

I've still had some pretty nice drops, even in high sec (lovely implants x 2). Maybe in the last month at least. Think it's just a phase.

The issue with "random" is and has always been in fact the "random" part in and of itself. By its very nature, RNG makes it pretty impossible to accurately tell when it's not working right or favor one side of the odds over the other incorrectly.

"Tomahawks?"

"----in' A, right?"

"Trouble is, those things cost like a million and a half each."

"----, you pay me half that and I'll hump in some c4 and blow the ---- out of it my own damn self."

I think someone must have heard me moaning Big smile

I just had a Mid Grade Slave Epsilon drop for me - I had to double check the ISK value of my cargo hold!

I'm aware that RNGs are random but two weeks of poor results from both loot and salvage made me wonder if something had been adjusted and I'd simply missed that news. Thanks for all your responses.

I got the biggest haul I've ever had (about 3B) a few days ago. This was after about a month of miserable loot takes. So you never know.

You can pick your friends and you can pick your nose but you can't pick your friends nose. Unless you podded them...and collected their corpse.

If loot tables get buffed, your values get nerfed. See: Pith X-type mods. More frequent drops means lower prices due to increased supply. While you perceive a nerf, loot drops may have in fact received a buff.

I think you mean supply and demand. Risk v Reward does not explain everything in EVE. See: Thought-terminating cliché

The odds improve the further you move from the center of the universe

Null drops are impressive.

You would need to be out there though to know this.

Wormholes you just scale up the drops like mission levels. Class 3~4 is as far as you can go without a bit of help / infrastructure

There are good ships,

And wood ships,

And ships that sail the sea

But the best ships are Spaceships

Since when do you actually awnser a question correctly, let alone with 6 letters. I feel a bias here.

I've had a few implant drops from highsec belt rats, and honestly I can say that the slaves in amarr space are worth more than the ones that drop in minmatar space (halo implants). Dunno about gallente and Caldari though, you'd have to check what drops there and check it's market price.

Oh, I perfectly understand, Hal Morsh — a mission like this requires courage, skill, and heroism… qualities you are clearly lacking. Have you forgotten you're one of the bloody immortals!?

I hear shooting freighters in high sec can net you some pretty fine loot.

Best of all, you can scan them, unlike NPC ships. No more relying on RNG for your drops. Well, there is the coin toss for whether it actually drops. But I think the odds are better than shooting rats for a month before you get some decent item.
