New graphics card?

Will I benefit anything on EVE from installing a new graphics card on my desktop? My ISP hookup is 27 mips. Here is my setup now.
Perhaps this is too tough a question to discuss on a forum.

Thanks for reading.

Yes, integrated graphics cards are a pretty big bottleneck due to shared memory especially if you are trying to multitask, but there is no need to go nuts.

I bought a GTX 660 a few years ago for under $200 and it runs 3-4 clients plus another game (usually KSP lately) all on high settings and doesn't seem to be even breaking a sweat, meaning it is complete overkill for running a single client.

If you are on a budget I would aim for something in the $100-$150 range. But for Eve (not very heavy on the graphics requirements) you could probably get something satisfactory in the $75-$100 range.

Just to point out, the forum is a perfectly fine place to ask about PC hardware as relates to Eve. Keep in mind, we're gigantic computer nerds playing the same game... I'd wager most EVE players are playing on a custom battlestation as it is. Not to mention all the third party programmers, developers, image producers, video producers, podcasters, streamers, bloggers, and God knows what else. There's a pretty good chance that SOMEONE floating around here can handle a techie question, so ask away :)

I'm not sure where the best place to have those kinds of conversations would be, but if it's just a general question like this (i.e. "what benefit do I get from a new graphics card?") I'd throw it in General Discussion and hope for the best.

your system sounds similar (in some cases better) than mine, aside from the graphics card. I have a GTX580 and it runs a few accounts on high just fine. I had a GTX460 previously and that did pretty well. I haven't looked at hardware in a while but I would guess you could pick up a pretty decent upgrade.

I guess the other question is what power supply do you have? I had to upgrade mine at some point.

You want at least a gtx 560 with 2GB Vram for max settings. That and up you're golden.

I have a GTX650ti and eve runs with every setting maxed ...
even in crowded systems like Jita aren't a problem

Eve doesn't need the latest shiniest hardware to run, up to £250 for 1 card will be fine for eve.

Good crowd on EVE forums. I just quit playing WOT because of the horrible behavior of the young people on there. WOT is filled with terribly behaving children.
Here people seem civil and nice.

hah I was trying so hard to not say that... lol
Yep

Think of it as a forum where people go to screw around, but most other forums here we are quite serious.

Oh GD is plenty of fun, most of the regulars are just sick of the awful stuff that gets posted over and over again, and have lots of funny things to say in response. Sure sometimes they are a bit over sensitive to a legitimate post, but usually good for a laugh. Most threads quality is set by the OP, and most really have no where to go from there.

I am guessing GD is general discussion? There are so many acronyms in EVE. The other day on chat half the words were acronyms and I had to ask what he was talking about.

He pltd his Ex usng MVD on full. Blasted the srcv with his nvrmnd but he was ld with tp inhib. flew to wm and clkd. LOL [dont try to translate. I made this up]

what kind of graphic card are you thinking of getting? don't forget to check your power supply is kicking out enough juice too. On my alienware m13x-r3 i have an ati card hd6900 which runs eve sweetly on my desktop i have just build i went back to nvidia and run eve with a gtx970 everything on high, you can see a big difference in game graphics, also don't forget heat you may nrrd to chuck another fan in your case
