i figured it out people

first I want to apologize for breaking eve

see I work for the Lord and He probably didn't want me to turn towards eve as it would take away from making songs for Him.

So I rejoined yesterday anyways and it crashed today probably He would just take it away from all of us so I cant play.

So that said....

God I promise to occupy every waking moment of my life with this fictional unscientific science fiction space opera if it EVER turns on again. Nothing short of destroying the servers entirely and giving lice to the it members who don't already have it will stop me.

There, that should set Him straight, if we pay attention maybe we might notice something happen to this troll bait game.

The point wasn't that CCP shouldn't be looking out for the welfare of their employees, or that devs shouldnt have food, it was that if I was the paying customer of a company whose service has been unaccessible for over 6 hours (and I am), what I'd like to see to give me confidence is a detailed explanation of the problem and photos of people WORKING on it (even if they're having pizza at the same time), not pictures of devs hanging around a table having pizza with a game room in the background. Maybe I'm less hipster and my idea of PR is different but not really what I'd post with a mass of pissed off people on the forums.

Otherwise noones expecting people to work like robots. Though robots will likely be replacing us all soon enough.

Oh and a bit more detail on what's going on would be nice, we're not technical morons here, most of us can actually tell between our software and hardware and our frontends and backends (hopefully most people can generally tell between the last two).

I think they are all a little busy trying to fix the problem - 15 - 20 mins giving an explanation of what is going on to YOU is 15 - 20 mins that someone isnt working on finding the solution.

Chill out and let the guys do their work. Plenty oftime for explanations when its fixed.

And many paying customers get delays - never had a flight cancelation or 10 - 12 hour delay?? did you scream at your airline like this? did it get you anywhere?

Take a chill pill and enjoy the random forum postings - this the most together I have seen the eve community since fanfest!!!

Its a bit strange this downtime for EVE, i am surprised that they can't drill back an update so that we can run a version which does not have this new update. Surly they keep a backup of the existing system which we could login and carry on playing EVE...

It seems very unprofessional to make changes to a system which could break the game without having a backup plan.. Where i work we can restore servers at anytime, before and after updates...

I am a bit surprised they can't restore a version before the update was applied.... Am I wrong??

Yes you are wrong. If this was as simple as restoring from a backup you can bet it would have been done for hours. So much more behind the app that makes it all happen than just a specific version of code.

+1 'accidental' account deletion

Seriously though, if one of my company's customer's demanded that, we'd laugh in their face and drop them as a customer. They owe you nothing. They don't even owe you a status update; they're doing so because they're good people and like to keep us informed.

Self-entitled children. ffs.

*Update

Whilst no fix has yet been implemented, the initial cause of the failure has been identified.
A travelling server salesman called at CCP offices this morning and promised to 'Double the servers', the developers were a little dubious at first - but the salesman phoned one of his friends up who vouchsafed on his behalf. One stranger backing the word of another was all the proof required for CCP to hand over the one server they own.
All we need do now is wait for the two servers to be delivered and we can all play again.

I think ive seen that somewhere before but I cant put my finger on it
