Wife's gone camping for 1 day with the kid... For 6 months i havent had a day off...

6 months....

I come home, drop my pants and make coffee, the servers down... No biggie i can wait 15 mins, i empty the dishwasher...

8 Hours later im sitting here crying :( day is wasted... This was the day CCP, this was the day... you ****** me...

You didn't even wine and dine me, you... just... ******... me :(

Sorry if CCP are looking out for the welfare of their employees by feeding them and making sure they're not going hungry when they've been working 9 hours solid on a severe technical issue.

Has anyone though that maybe a rollback isn't possible? You know the game only has hundreds of timer that depend on time moving forward so rolling back could just **** up everything even more.

Yup, I'm not a programmer... I'm here to message, and make sure you guys are informed with as much as we can release. Best thing I can do is take care of people and make sure they're comfortable while they're working.

I work for a webhost and have access to 3 datacenters here in town. They all have such policies. Prolonged downtime like this means you take care of your techs.

Try going 7 hours of trying to deal with issues like this and see how your thought process is without some food.

Oh and yes, they all have cots and blankets as well.

Fair enough. I assume that you have saved the previous state of the system--the one that was working before you attempted the fixes and patches. Why not roll back the changes, restore the status quo ante, and do some more testing offline?


This is the 1735th time someone suggested this. I guess it's not possible. Could lead to even worse scenarios. They need to solve the problem right now. It may even not be related to Sov changes or new content at all. It may be something old and rotten.

My friend recently fixed an error in code, which was there for very long. He works on a very large ERP-like system. But everyone expected the wrong behaviour. They tested everything, but still after the fix was deployed, everything crashed and they had to restore the previous state... :) Sometimes it's just better to keep it running.

I must say, that i am not even bored by the server being down, looking at this threadnought is almost entertaining enough, i can feel the level of bonding within the community Cool, but all kidding aside, enjoy your pizza's, they are well earned.

just started my account back after a few years off..

We talked about this the last time.. Gerbils dont have the stamina to keep servers running.. you should go to Scorpion Mice.. They have a bonus of a little yell every so often.
