Making extra money from missions

So I completed the industry missions and received the Badger. I was going to sell it (already have one) but it turns out that it's more profitable to get platinum level insurance, warp to a mission encounter (currently doing security missions) and let it get blown up. Selling on the market I could have made maybe 700,000, and only after a long wait as many are priced below that.
Platinum insurance was 345,300isk, insurance payout was 1,145,000isk, net profits are 805,700isk (instant payout too, instead of waiting for someone to buy it).

That's roughly 200,000isk more than you'd make by selling it, and the payout is instant - no waiting for someone to buy it).
Dunno if this is common knowledge or not, but I thought it might be worth sharing.

I should probably add that this *may* apply to other races as well, but I've only tested it in Caldari space.

If you add a claim for whiplash and say your dog ate your flatscreen TV after it fell off the wall, you get even more. Twisted

This happens now and again when the market takes a dip due to low demand or oversupply.

Well you got it for free, so mostly the case there. But yeah do whatever with it, though keeping it is a good option as well since you'll likely need more than one if you... bah blap it. I mean if you are doing security missions, it's hardly worth looting stuff any longer compared to just doing as many missions as fast as you can. Later you may need a few to haul ship hulls around, but you can always buy another for practically nothing, or a better one. btw, you're in a ~40mil isk shirt... does 200k matter for the time it takes to blowed it up? I've had ships rotting for years by the time I spent anything on clothing hah

I'm in it for the money

Eh, shirt was 20mil, I figured what's the point of making isk if you can't buy what you want :P
I've basically been mining and putting the ore on the market, then mission running while I wait for the ore to sell. Saving for better ships while I train the required skills.

Oh maybe I can't see the color correctly. Navy goes for about 40mil, I have one on the market atm. Anyway, if you are after isk, you will make it faster running missions compared to mining. Combat pilots make good income. But if you just like mining, or mining to put into manufacturing, well there's that.

Yeah I've noticed I can make tons more from mission running at this point. I really do like mining though, I guess that puts me in the minority here lol. I'm starting to get into manufacturing too.
