  • Barbican - a fortified outpost, protecting the path (eg, drawbridge) to a structure (eg, castle.)
  • Conflux - a flowing together
  • Redoubt - literally, "a place of retreat"; a small fortified structure not attached (or even near) a main defensive structure
  • Sentinel - an entity that stands guard and watches, often attached to a stationary element such as a border
  • Vidette - a mobile sentry in advance of a combat force

These are all functions hinted at by the blog about the new deployables.
The are all elements that can be found inside the Drifter vaults.

Path to your space structures.. Like a jumpgate?
a flowing together of all the different parts? A whole Complex?
PLACE of retreat.... Uh... Quite literal
Sentinels to defend your space stuff. Alrighty.
Mobile sentry in advance of combat force.. Im thinking something people would use to find your space goodies hidden, like probes.

Does this mean deep space?

Oh, I perfectly understand, Hal Morsh — a mission like this requires courage, skill, and heroism… qualities you are clearly lacking. Have you forgotten you're one of the bloody immortals!?

You don't think it's impressive that they remember that you attacked them long enough to reinforce the POS you ran and hid in, then return for the timer so that they can blow it up?

I dont see any of this content really appealing or worthwhile. The drifters super weapon keeps everyone that is not in a capital ship from engaging with them. The entosis link is another troll tool for blobs to use on smaller corps in nullsec. The drifters themselves are flying ships that are recycled pieces of content from the sleepers. It would be one thing if there was content for everyone to enjoy, but as it is they are just a nuisance and their WH systems lack enjoyable activities. I think the CCP dev team is trying to create something new, but it's happening too slowly and rewarding those at the top or those that fly in the largest blobs instead of breaking them down and giving new players a chance to explore new content. Null sec sov has been turned into a joke where the big guys dominate and charge rent to everyone else, and if you dont like it they turn your **** off. Super lame.

Well, that Drifter storyline was cool while it happened in highsec. Now that the focus has moved to wormholes, I don't care about them any more.

You got it in one - the focus has moved. The Drifters remain in highsec also and the focus will shift over time :)

Things happen too fast to already state that the Drifters are only relevant in (their 5) W-Spaces anyway. Sarum Prime anyone? Bear

I hope they will have greater impact on invaded systems than sanshas incursions.

...and? Concord magically disappears? Status will drop below 0.1 or 0,5?

Variable security system? Well, maybe I could buy that, depending on how long would take to rise security from 0.6 to 0.9... Twisted

Yes I'm sure decreasing CONCORD response times will be the Drifters' top priority, right after they're done murdering everybody and stealing their brains.

Frankly I was hoping for something bigger, like no concord at all.

Y'know, I hear that there are places in EVE where there's no CONCORD... but those are scary places and you wouldn't want to go there and pvp anyone.

Also, folks that don't pvp aren't just going to dock up, they'll log off... so who are you going to chase around that can't fight back at that point?

You mean null? Where I am now? I don't pvp at all, I avoid pvp at all cost. Maybe if null comes to those who are to scary to go there they will be pvp more.

No no, CONCORD's stealing bodies...

... oh, wait, did you mean the Drifters? They're stealing bodies, too.
