Then I went to download a fresh client direct from www.eveonline.com.. And that won't initialize.

Well done CCP, you have just cut off a formerly paying customer with multiple accounts with your own incompetence.

Riiiiight. It's their fault you can't use your computer.

New Eden isn't nice. It isn't friendly. It isn't very hospitiable. Good thing there are people here to shoot in the face.

Sounds pretty right to me. The vast majority of us have no issues with the launcher ever, so when people do it's pretty clear the issue is with the user. When you dig down they've usually let it half update got bored and crashed it out then used the repair tool or other such methods of abstaining from the launcher.

It looks before it posts a thread, or else it gets the troll instead.

A preference for the repair tool is in now way an indication of how useless the launcher is, obviously.

EVE is becoming shallow and puerile; it will satisfy neither the veteran nor the "WoW" type crowd in the transition.

For the majority of players there is no such preference, we just don't feel the need to come on the forums going "gosh, I used the launcher again to patch and it worked like always!" every time a patch comes out, so you may not notice the repair tool crowd being a vocal minority (most of which are using the repair tool out of some seething hatred for having a separate launcher screen rather than a technical necessity).

There was an update today to release 903157.

I'll have a torrent of the full client available in a few hours.

I've never had a problem with upgrading via the full installer. Make sure to verify the release you are downloading is the current one.

I very much doubt it is CCP's incompetence. Can I have your stuff?

I am profoundly amused by Westerners' habit of flailing around with their wallets and ranting about money instead of engaging into a constructive dialogue with their counterparts to work out an effective solution if there is something broken.

Work in the tourism industry and see it's not only westerners like this,

people as a rule act like stupid arses when something goes wrong regardless of race, creed, sex or culture

It's a common trait in our species.

The only exception I have seen with this is people who are actively or have recently worked in customer service.
