T3 Frig Ideas

I prefer to fly frigates over anything else and would like to see T3 versions and have them do something unique for combat.

EW Drone Boats:
1. Big bonues for EW drones.
2. Instead of drone bays, have drone slips on the hull so the drones could be seen as if they were turrets. Limit number of drones per ship rather than limited by drone hold size.
3. Ability to launch drones as if they were equiped with a microjump drive when they disengage from ship.

Jump Drive Boats:
1. Built in very short range jump drive (based on au).
or
2. Ability to use microjump drives or a built in one.

Tug Boats:
1. Ability to lock another ship with a tractor beam like mechanism and pull them. Even if limited to friendly ships, could lead to some interesting tactics (negating webs, helping align, boosting speed). Effect based on target mass.
2. Uses fuel to do so (amount based on target mass).

Networked Boats: Ability to form an offensive/defensive net with other networked boats that must lock each other (using one of available locks ship/pilot can make).
1. Bonus to defense/offense to networked boats based on types of boats in network.
a. Amarr - armor hit point or turret damage/tracking bonus
b. Caldari - shield resistance or missile bonus
c. Gallente - armor resistance or drone bonus
d. Minmatar - mass reduction/signature or turret range/signature radius bonus
or
2. Hedgehog
a. Large bonuses to FoF and defender missles.
b. Penalize ships that are not in their fleet and within their interferance area (a bubble that increases with more networked ships). Agility, damage, resistance, sensor, speed, or etc penalty based on ships deploying the web.
c. When bubbled, can't move and gain defense bonuses.

MJD on Frigs = Bad
Jump drive frigs = Worse
More T3's before we balance existing ships = Cancerous

EW drones bonuses > Why not?
Drones slips > No. No need to complexify a working thing.
Microjumping drones > NO. Drones are a weapon system that is supposed to have delayed application. If you want to instantly apply drones effects, get closer. Eve is all about choices.



Jump drive boats > "Yeay, free GTFO button!!!" > No.
MJD frigs > "Hey, marauder just MJDed away!" > No.



Tug boats > Why not.


Networked Boats
- Offensive Bonus > "Yeay, incredible damage application regardless of situation!" > No.
- Defensive Bonus > "Guys, it's kitchen sink time." > No.
FoF Bonus > Maybe. Would be interesting in the fact that associated game-play would be based solely on placement.
Defender Bonus > Totally useless. Defenders are not a crap system because of defender missiles damage, but because they destroy only one missile from a volley. I would rather see a fix for defender before seeing it as a dedicated ship. And there is also the firewall doctrine (video).
Non-Targeted Aera Of Effect EWAR > No. Because Non-Targeted Aera Of Effect EWAR.

Also, the "When bubbled, can't move and gain defense bonuses" is stupid, because it just let the enemy fleet apply maximum damage as long as you're stationary. Nice for HICs that can get loads of EHP, but you won't be able to do the same on a frig-sized hull.

You already have T1 frigs, AS, EAF, Interceptors, venture, navy and pirate, Covops and Bombers totaling 63 Ships you could fly Why do you need 4 more?


What will a T3F do that you cannot all ready do in one of the other frig class ships?

Recent history shows us that is what T3 hulls tend to do.

Just from a feeling:

T3s are put into the slightly beefier category. So T3 Destroyers to small ships, and T3 cruisers have stronger similarities with combat battlecruisers than with regular cruisers. (See slots, tank, mobility besides chassis optimization)

So with small/medium ships served, future will most likely bring rebalances or revamps for those, and eventually T3 large ships that from a feeling will be about as practical in everyday business as a Nestor (iE potentially very and generally not).

If there is one thing lacking though, it's T3 modules comparing to T2 as ships do, that can be built entirely off hybrid components and minerals with some RAM.

I think we will be able to identify spies, enemy fleet scouts, etc, based on whether the fly an antiquated hull or not.

Why wouldn't this second frig...today, right now, just kill the webber. Or is there some half assed plot to be web immune in there in case I get the crazy notion to web both you in that t3f and the other ship in a 2 web rapier?



Do we need even more faster eve. Mixed feeligns about the Prop mod redo atm. I like the cap changes as some cap use freed up for me but not sure how more speed will play out as eve already seems to be liking wide open throttle play these days. Also lets talk stacking. lets talk...

tugger and/or tugged snaked with a minmatar fleet booster off grid. One, if not both, oversize prop mod fit, yeah....lets put that in the mix too.

What are you having in mind for me to not abuse this.

Be as OP as the T3 dessies and cruisers are would be my guess and bases on what I hear / read about in game.

On the other hand since CCP is expanding the line up of T3 ships in the game there is a certain logic to this request.
