So I stumbled across this guy on youtube, making a ton of videos about pretty much every important aspect of Video games and the deeper understanding of it.

For example:

- dealing with inovative Ideas ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w_skCXC9oVA&list=PLB9B0CA00461BB187&index=3)
- balancing skill and power in games ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EitZRLt2G3w )
- etc (about 250 topics more)

Especially the last one was very interesting and i also shared it on reddit and got quite good feedback. This was in fact also the reason for me to post this.

I really hope CCP devs see this and take it into their discussions. These videos have a lot of truth in them and are very easy to watch and understand, so there should be no reason, not to inculde them. Especially with a awsome dev team like CCP puttinf that much effort into imporvements and comunity work.

I believe CCP is well aware of this aspect of the game. As a new player, your power (skills) increases dramatically in what you are able to do with different mods, ships etc. While learning different frigate types, there is a markedly useful advantage to leveling up frigates. However, a relatively new character can be useful in a fight if they learn to use their ships correctly. By the time you get to battleships your frigate skills you have learned are still quite viable, but you have to adjust your tactics to be effective. Balance is always a struggle and adjustments have to be made but for the most part, they have been subtle. The difference it makes to strategy can and has been huge at times, but the buff / nerf changes have been minor. This tells me they have paid very close attention to skill / power balance.

The TL;DR I get from watch that is that "people suck, gamers suck extra and game developers should give them things they don't earn to make the feel better about themselves, because that will totally make them play more and get better at playing".

This is why I like niche hard core communities, where the developer basically says "no Call of Duty noob tube for you, HTFU or don't, it's your game experience at stake".

No. Here is why; EVE is more comparable to chess in that sense. You are presented with the board, the pieces and the rules.

If you want to enjoy EVE, you have to learn EVE and understand EVE. And the only way to get there is to play EVE a lot, like you have to play chess a lot to become any good at it.

If a new player joins today with the opinion that they need some kind of special power or ability to be on the same level as veteran players, they are not going to last long because a veteran player have what the new player doesn't have: experience and knowledge.

But if you want to help a new player, instead of giving them a fish, teach them how to fish.

tl;dr EVE is a game of mastery.
