Update to the Launcher and the repair tool - Fix inside!

I'm running the very latest version of the launcher: 2.2.871481

Every day it's a guessing game if the launcher will act up after downtime or not.

When it misbehaves:
- Doesn't get to a "client ready" state
- Progress bar along the bottom is grey, not yellow.
- Logging in displays a greyed out play button, not yellow.
- Closing the launcher, letting it unload completely from memory and re-launching it does not resolve the problem.

Resolution tends to come an hour to two later when suddenly the launcher is working again. No explanation, no rhyme or reason why.

During problems with the launcher, as long as the build matches what's on the servers, my game client (exefile.exe) launches, and I can log in successfully and play.

I've learned to hate the launcher due to this unreliability.

I have been getting a message that says "Remote info file couldn't be fetched" Is there any advice on what I have to do?

Every Update the only fix for the Offline Mode is to completely uninstall and reinstall the game and its been happening every update for the last year it feels like. I just wanted to say something because I've read other people having the same issue and wanted to voice it.

I'm currently getting the error:-

Exception during UpdaterModule.Update
Traceback (most recent call last):

etc

Which then gives me the option to bypass the loader, but means I'm not getting patch updates.

I'm in Australia if that has any implications for local issues

So last night I downloaded the update, and all was well. Got into the game etc etc...everything was just dandy!

Then I decided to relog, and all is decidedly NOT well. The launcher refuses to acknowledge that I am connected to the Internet. The client woks just fine if I use the .exe file in the bins folder (which tip I found here on this thread, thanks) but the launcher is dead in the water.

Have a look at that - doesn't the irony just KILL you? Also, I've just gotten used to using the launcher and I would like it fixed now please.

That's because you're continually starting the older EVE Launcher (2.2.859950) probably because you've pinned it to your task bar. That version has been half updated to the newer, download-on-demand capable version, and thus the certificates used to connect to the server have been moved and that connection can't be validated.

Try running eve.exe directly, and if that doesn't fail, reinstall just the EVE Launcher from here: http://cdn1.eveonline.com/EveOnlineLauncher/release/EVEOnlineLauncher_2_2_871481.exe

Client has been stuck in offline mode for 2+ days now, but at least the .exe method was working until the patch officially released. Tried deleting cache, tried repair tool (kept crashing/freezing), tried running things as admin, nothing. using the link above was at least able to patch the client, but now the client throws exceptions when I launch it with a bar at the bottom saying 0 of 0 bytes downloaded. Oh well, at least the .exe method works again.

TL;DR CCP please stop tinkering, launcher worked much more reliably before switch to download-on-demand

I re-downloaded the launcher using:

http://cdn1.eveonline.com/EveOnlineLauncher/release/EVEOnlineLauncher_2_2_878019.exe

Which seems to have fixed it for me, although my launcher is now v2.2.878305.

I'm having the same issue with launcher v2.2878305, in Windows 8.1. (Australia, if that matters)

Complete uninstalls (though, admittedly, not of the shared cache) hasn't fixed it.

evefile.exe uses a full CPU core (actually registers more -- as high as 30% on my quad-core machine, perhaps due to OS overhead?), but doesn't perform any I/O or network activity (or, at least, not enough to register on Task Manager). Sits at a constant 78.6 MB of memory. Doesn't spawn a window, so it shows up as a "background task".

EDIT: A potential fix! I managed to solve my issues in particular by nuking the shared cache and having the launcher re-download the entire thing, but before you do that, dear reader, consider just running "rescache.exe", which apparently goes through the cache and re-downloads corrupt files.

Hello

I can't connect at all now (3h of establishing connection + http://i.imgur.com/y4jZ7ds.png )

I tried to reinstall Eve but it still doesn't work.
And the only thing the repair tool does is showing me this http://i.imgur.com/BahT66S.png , and with the log error:
Usage: repair.exe [options]

My launcher version is 2.2.878305 and Eve is v 13.04.879216.

EDIT: Nevermind, it works now... a friend messed with my firewall...

My comment.

Disabling the proxy server settings resolved my issue. Good luck and keep posting if the issue persists.

I have used the repair tool. What else am I supposed to do?

*UPDATED*
==========

I was having a similar issue. The launcher would not show any effort towards loading, leaving the status bar and the PLAY button grayed out.

By disabling the proxy server settings, I have resolved the issue.
Network and Sharing Center < Internet Options < LAN Settings *Connections tab* < Uncheck the top box under Proxy server area (it reads "Use a Proxy server for you LAN (These settings will not apply to dial-up or VPN connections).)

I hope this helps.

*NEW*
After a reboot and getting the same Grayed-button routine, the proxy fix didn't work this time.
- I had to delete the shared cache folder, Run the repair tool, and reload the launcher.... And the launcher was fixed! --for now Shocked

My launcher, repair tool, and direct download of the launcher exe are all still intermittently having problems.

This appears to be a connectivity issue between me and the eve download servers. I have exchanged evemails with another person in the southeast U.S. that is having the same problems and shares the same ISP: Mediacom.

But eve is literally the only game, program, or service that is having problems on my computer. Maybe it is one of the CCP regional servers that is having this problem.

The problem appears to be when there is anything for the launcher to do other than launch the game (i.e. download an update for the game or itself).

Imagine how disappointed I am when I come back from a long absence only to find that EVE doesn't simply want to work anymore.

Whatever happened to the kick*** dev team?

I guess I'll go for a refund, 2 days and none of the fixes mentioned here work.

I am f'cking dissappointed, none of the searched and found solutions (if they were any) do work.

Would expect a repair to to exactly do what is is made for, but client is stil not downloading any updates or enabling me to start gameplay after login :(

Does anyone have a solution for this error?

This is ridiculous - I've been begging for help about the launcher since March. In fact, go back and look at how nicely I asked -- it's remarkable what 2 months of dealing with the same continuous issue can do to someone's tone.
