When Scanning, a method to center probes on a sig.

When scanning a system, when doubleclicking a sig, you center the map on that sig. I'd like to see a 'shift-doubleclick' control that also centers the probes on that sig, so you don't have to move them manually.

...No, you cannot have an 'automatically scan down this thing for me' button.

I just want a "put loot from that thing in my hangar" button.

Moving probes around quick and efficiently is a fun part of the minigame and a part where I can outdo my competition due to my higher/lower player skill and not just some stat in my character sheet. I dont want it gone, -1

I read the OP. No, you cannot have an "automatically scan down this thing for me" button.

You can already center the system map on a sig. If you can't manage to center the grouped probes on that dot using the provided movement tool that already displays the center of the group, then you need to find another career path besides a prober.

Though on the plus side, "center probes on signature" would put the center probe right next to the target (on grid), so maybe that's balanced. You get a tight grouping, the target gets advanced notice, win win.

This kind of removes the skill and finesse of probing. Plus I think there'd be a lot of problems when the signature is reporting multiple possible points or areas.

Yes. This would only work when you've got a sig scanned down to a single 'dot'. If you can double click it to center the map on the sig, It would be nice to be able to 'shift doubleclick' it to also center the probes on the sig. You still have to resize the probe scan diameters.

It won't work while the sig is still poorly defined as a blob, circle, or multiple dots.

'Shift doubleclicking' to center your probes on a sig just makes it a few seconds faster to center the probes without having to swing around and see the sig from multiple directions. For me, that's the slowest part of scanning, and I live in a wh, so I scan a lot.

I don't think it removes any skill or finesse in probing. Combat probing requires a different set of skills as you really want to locate your target as close as possible with the dscan, and then lock them with the combat probes in a single scan so they hopefully miss combat probes on the dscan. "Shift-doubleclicking" to center your probes on a sig won't help you here.

How quickly and efficiently you can narrow down a target is a big part of probing and has serious implications in PvP. This is already ridiculously fast with good skills and implants and doesn't need to be make any faster (which this would do).

-1 from me.

I don't know how bad your scanning skills are, but with all scanning skills at 3 in a buzzard with sister's launcher and sister's core probes, I can get every sig but a sleeper site down to the dot on a 16au scan, and every ship that's larger than a frigate, and not a t3, down to the dot at an 8au scan. As it currently sit, if I really try, I can probe a cruiser down in under 45s. With your idea allowing me to auto-center my probes on that same cruiser, the only limit to how fast I could lock it down would be flight time and scan time of the probes, potentially as little as 15-20s.

No, this would be the worst thing since the discovery scanner showing all signatures.

If you don't follow the rules, neither will I.

Anything that further simplifies eve minigames just makes everything press x to get cash.

And I don't want that.
