*** Suggest any with needs to just file a support petition ("EVE Universe -> Support" or F12 in game if you can get in). Posting to this thread at this point is without merit since CCP's attention to any particular support thread dies off rather rapidly. Wishing you all good luck to getting your issues resolved quickly!

Still getting the download ressource cache loading circle at bottom-left corner.

What is it loading if all the ressource cache files are already loaded?

I got the impression it is not downloading things to the client, but either caching new things from the harddrive or loading new stuff into the application data folder. For example a new person that is visible in the top of your local chat list enters the system which you have never encountered before, and the portrait needs to be loaded.

EDIT:
deleted the "problem" because it was solved with today's patch.

Let me get this straight.
The indicator was causing performance issues?
WTF?

WTF was exactly my first thought when reading the patch notes. But it seems to work for me. No more fps drops here.

So thanks for this workaround I guess.

You must be new here.

After a while you will realise that CCP stop monitoring threads like this after a few days. This is especially true where people are having issues and not crowing about how fantastically awesome CCP’s new “feature” is.

Basically, they don’t give a sh!t and have moved on to the next awesome piece of cr4p.

Hello,

I played last night, i wake up before downtime, open launcher and I get full shared ressource check that takes minutes. Does that even makes sense ? I mean, nothing could have happened. And besides, why even do a full check when a simple version check could suffice. Why not keep the full check for when the player has problems. Anyway, i hope i get those checks less and less.

And btw, if most of the times, launching the game is quite fast, some other time i have to open the program manager to make sure i did launch the game.

Would be awesome if you could remove those issues.

Otherwise, games runs fine.

Jesus Christ.
Checked the Download all resource files box on launcher settings, game ran fine for a day or so.
Today the launcher wouldn't work after downtime, white square where the entry firlds are. This happens sometimes so i tried closing and opening the launcher until it worked.
That trick not working this time so used the restart pc, then the repair tool.
Big mistake.
Launcher starts downloading 6+GB again, really slow.
This is bad and nobody's here are they?

Not that I don't trust CCP to get it right, or anything...LAWL, but........

Once I had the launcher running, and the shared cache was correct (around 13Gb), I made a backup copy of the shared cache on a different HD. I also made a copy of the client folder.

A couple of days later when the inevitable happened, corrupted client and shared cache, repeated downloads of 6 GB.... I just deleted the cache folder and replaced with the backup. I did the same with the client folder. When running the launcher after that, it was just a small update and it worked.

Just backup the cache & client folder after each update.

Also, I have 1 PC with a SSD and 1 with a mechanical HD. The SSD does a cache check in a few seconds, the mech HD takes minutes.

I'd just like to thank CCP for screwing up a vital part of the client, when it was working perfectly fine before. They prove the statement in my sig correct time after time. Its not as if everyone was asking for DOD.

Awesome stuff.

CCP Philosophy: If it works, break it. If it’s broken, leave it alone and break something else.

*reads the current complains before patching*

This is interesting. My computer is super old, and I'm on Windows XP. I bypass the launcher (because I really don't like it for manymanymanymany reasons) and go directly to the executable in the "bin" folder. So whenever I see Eve cannot connect, I close it and start up the launcher for both clients I have installed.

Starting first launcher: patching and "Checking resource cache folder" - done in 30 seconds or so, client is deemed ready.
Starting second launcher: patching even faster, and no checking of resource cache. Done in 15 seconds or so.

May I ask, what you guys are doing / systems you are running / that there are such outrageous problems when my potato of a computer with a dated operating system works like a charm? This is so confusing. What is happening?

Since the change I haven't been able to patch past 10% on the updated launcher, I've uninstalled, reinstalled, tried the steam version and not, so luck so far...

Tried a fresh install using the complete client...

Any ideas?

Well that was a bit of a horror story.
After my initial problems I gave up for the night. Next morning I spent 7+ hours trying to get things running.

The launcher would not update, period. It would time out and tell me to run the repair.exe. I tried that and it would time out and give me an error message (repair failed) !

I went to the Tech Support website, followed the directions to delete the Launcher folder and run the new "launcher" file (basically installs the latest version of the launcher). That didn't do anything.

Did the same thing for the repair.exe file. Didn't help (still timed out and gave me an error message).

Tried to do a fresh install. Windows (8.1) SmartScreen blocked the install (until I manually selected "Run Anyway" to force it). The install FAILED !

I tried downloading the "offline" installer. The first time I did it all the files downloaded in a couple of minutes. Ran the executable and it FAILED (told me that one of the "cabinet" files was corrupt) !!!

Filed a petition, attached log files, etc. Tried to download just the one cabinet file that was supposedly corrupt. It started downloading normally. Then it got slower and slower until it was telling me it was going to take 14+ HOURS to download the one file !
Tried downloading from a different computer. Same story. Rebooted both computers (for about the 20th time that morning) and no change. Opened a launcher window again so I could click the link to the support page. While waiting for the launcher to start I read some sports scores or something and a minute or 2 later tabbed to the launcher and to my surprise, it was sitting there at "Client Ready" !!

WTF ? How did that happen ? I tried opening a different copy of the launcher (I have 6 accounts, each set up on it's own copy of the client so they don't all go down at the same time when you get those "Connection Closed" messages).
That copy opened and updated itself in a flash, like it used to. Still not believing it, I tried the launchers on the other computer. They all miraculously worked perfectly. In minutes I had all 6 clients on both computers updated.

I have no idea what the problem was or how it got fixed. I'd just spent 7 hours trying different things and had pretty much given up on it when suddenly it just started working. Like someone had flicked a switch on or something.

(As I mentioned, I have 6 accounts, and have them set up individually on my desktop and a laptop. Both are running Win 8.1, both are set up as gaming computers. Both are running fine and had been running my set-up for years with no problems. I hadn't installed any new programs or hardware. All the previous updates worked without problem.
It seemed rather odd that I was having all those problems (launcher, repair.exe, online installation, offline installation) and suddenly, for no apparent reason, it just started working.)

Yet another 7.5GB download that I couldn't weedle my way out of.

I'm lucky that my internet connection is okay with this but it's still Not Good.

so, when i load my launcher, it checks for updates etc. I sign in and the client would normally launch. It doesn't, even if i wait 10 minutes. But as soon as i click on the play button, 2 client windows appear with one displaying the character selection screen and the other showing connection lost (like when you used to log in to the same client twice by mistake)

I'm having major problems with the launcher.
This is for a new install.
First issue was it would download 'updates' but no client.
In one case, it downloaded an update and then froze at 99%
I finally got it to load the full client (over 7 gb's).
I even tried to run as admin.
I got it to load once and then it crashed.
I closed the game, launcher, etc and attempted again.
It first tried to download another update (over 200mb's)
I closed it and opened it again and it attempted to download the full client again (over 7 gb's..)
The game won't fully load now.
This has been going on for about three days.
I tried 'repair', no go.
Is there a fix to this launcher?
I'm sure CCP wanted to improve the game, but these kinds of problems are not an improvement.
Any help would be appreciated.

I am guessing that 12 minutes is now an acceptable time to load to the character select screen?

Download on demand is basically crap. Rollback and fix it.

I'm in the exact same boat. I had all the same issues as you Mabah Vin. And when I finally 'did' get it to load (after 10+ hrs of letting the client launcher run the update patch), I've been having the same issues as you Magnius.

I've put a ticket in after following the final suggestion of the "Client won't load past a certain Percentage" article in the technical help section.

Well, from last post here is the continuing saga.

The first was a clean install...no go.

Twice downloaded after cleaning and deleting EVE..(Over 7 gb)

New launcher...doesn't make difference.
The launcher keeps getting updates, then hangs on 99%.
I did get it to go to 99.9..
Each time it frezes, I have to go to task manager to close it.

I followed the instructions for internet connections..

Even turned off my firewall and virus protection.

After countless attempts and at least two pots of coffee, I finally got it to load as I am writng this,

Since I have so much time watching the little thing do circles in the lower left corner telling me it is apparently loading or just confused, here is what it is doing.,

Launching takes about 4 minutes.

Now I have it launched and I am apparently in game.
I have a black screen with a chat window.

I now have little people in my chat window but no one is talking...

I also have a little box that says, entering station Otella

Well at least I know I am home but it's still dark.
I am afraid to move around, I may knock over a bottle of Quafe.

Does anyone have a flashlight?

The little circular thing in the lower left corner is still spinning..
By the way, I just filled my coffee cup during this writing.

The flashing icon still is saying 'Loading', as if it's flashing is some kind of signal for progress.
I highly doubt it, but I'll sit and sip my coffee and take up bandwidth typing this drivel since I seem to not be accomplishing much with fixing this game.

This is about the 6 minutes mark, but being the optimistic type, I continue to watch the little circular thing spin and sip coffee.Roll

I went outside to let my dog out and upon returning there is some progress.

I now have a little red light and some blue light on the screen.

I can't tell what they are, the room is still black.

Perhaps it is another pilot blundering around in this program with a flashlight. This is about the 10 minute mark.

Maybe I'll get some more coffee.

Hold on!..the agents just showed up on the right hand side of the screen!
The rest of the screen is still dark except for the little red and blue lights. (No doubt they are Pod pilots blundering around in the station with flashlights.)
Well, at least I'm not alone.
I wonder if the agents have a flashlight?

I can't believe I payed $14.99 to sit in the dark in a space station.

Has anybody seen my Rifter?
Nevermind, without a flashlight, I'm not going to find anything.

Well, the people are talking now in the chat window.
I could message and say I'm sitting in the dark in the station and I can't find my Rifter but I don't think they would believe me.
I'm thinking is at the 16 or 17 minute mark.
But who's counting?

Now I'm getting a 'Shutdown' in 30 minutes popup.
Not that it matters, but thanks for sharing.

Well, still watching the little circular thing spin and it's still dark in the station.

Well, I really don't think this is going to work.

And, I'm getting bored watching the little spinning thing and sitting in the dark in the station.

Which brings to mind 'The more bends in the plumbing, the easier it is to stop it up.'

There is some wisdom there but I can't think of it at the moment.

Update:

I can't tell you why but after closing the program I tried again and it worked.
I'm not sitting in the dark anymore and I have found my Rifter.

I didn't do anything. I closed and opened the program dozens of times and it worked this time.
Shocked
