Is the client with cache really 22GB big?

C:\ProgramData\CCP\EVE\SharedCache\ResFiles are 22GB for me (TQ & Sisi Resources), while the client installs are:

TQ: 289MB
Sisi: 284MB

Download on Demand sounded nice, but single files? A container would have been nice. That also ensures all the files are approximatelly in the same location on those old spinning disks... also makes copying the files much easier.
For now I put SharedCache Files inside a VHD mounted to C:\Games\EVE\SharedCacheFiles...
When in need to update the other (backup) machine, I can just transfer the entire VHD instead of 70'000 single files.

I seem to be having a problem with my client. I have re-installed and still am receiving this local session corrupt error. I have cleared the cache files via the settings on the client login screen but this has not helped either. Is there any log file I can upload to help expidite the process of fixing this error?

report any issue... well:

launcher dosnt start. crash to desktop. i deleted launcher cache and started the eve.exe - launcher starts, cache transfer beginns.
after about 2 hours cache transfer i am able to login without any notes about a patch?! ok.
and THEN i see the "importent note" about dod and cache transfer, right, in the news... ccp is so great!

login in, start, start, waiting, start...
game play, performance, fps with download the whole crap in background - eve feels like a turn-based retro rpg in the 1990s
fps is "unter aller sau!!!" fleet flights, missions,... unable to play!
every time this "resource loading circle" apears at lower left corner, the game nearly freeze!

later i read here in the forum, there is a opt-out for this download on demand sh.., hidden in the launcher settings. download all blablabla... good to know. unfortunatly to late :(
i will try the game tomorrow again...

btw: dont have a highend highspeed internet connection like you ccp guys. many other paying customers too! think about this
before deploying the patch?

Yes, it would be great if you could get logs through logserver.exe (see https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Log_Server ) and then attach them to a bug report ( https://community.eveonline.com/support/bug-reports/ ).

Smooth migration.

13.1 GB (14,119,504,805 bytes)  [Size]
13.2 GB (14,235,258,880 bytes)  [Size on disk]
60,205 Files, 257 Folders

echoing "that's a lot of files!" observation - it looks like I am losing 100mb, just for file system overhead.

2.) - After 2h i broke up and closed the launcher
- downloaded and executet http://cdn1.eveonline.com/EveOnlineLauncher/release/EVEOnlineLauncher_2_2_871265.exe
- after this, the launcher copied the files to the shared folder

3.) - launcher restarted and i'm at 1.) again: Downloading EVE Launcher Update without progress

thx ero.

edit:
another thing with eve and linux:
helps often. after EVERY eve patch - make a new "desktop shortcut/link" to launcher.exe or eve.exe

If that's the case, then why is access to 209.197.2.0/23 (one of Highwinds Network Group, Inc's network blocks) required for the launcher to render graphics, for the PLAY button to not be greyed out, and for the launcher to be able to launch the client?

For anyone else who is behind a firewall with a security model of "anything not expressly permitted is automatically forbidden", here is what you seem to need to allow:

A) 87.237.38.0/23 all ports, all protocols (this is CCP's IP block)
B) 209.197.2.0/23 port 443, tcp protocol (Highwinds Network Group, Inc.)

There may be more, but this is working for me now.

IP block ranges are findable by using ARIN's WhoisRWS search box on their page:
http://whois.arin.net/ui

In order to get the giant patch and cached data into the launcher earlier today, I gave up playing whack-a-mole with the firewall logs and rulesets, and just allowed this workstation to connect to the world on all ports/protocols until it was done with the download. I hope the next patch day doesn't force me into the same position.

I'm currently using a 4G connection through my iPhone's personal hotspot and when I start the launcher it tells me it's "downloading eve launcher update" but doesn't do anything at all. I tried downloading it manually from here http://cdn1.eveonline.com/EveOnlineLauncher/release/EVEOnlineLauncher_2_2_871265.exe but it makes no difference. I have had problems downloading patches before via my iphone and was wondering if anyone could give me any advice on what's going wrong? It tends to work fine when im downloading it from my internet at home so I dont think it's a firewall issue (I disabled it just in case) so perhaps something with 4G or using a hotspot?

Thanks in advance

I'm getting the same lag/framerate drops as reported around gates/stations ect. The game's behaving as if it's constantly having to download/refresh models that it already has stored in cache. ccp maek fix plz

Out of curiosity - have you set the Launcher to do a complete downloaded and then restarted it? If you are still having the issue after being fully patched then sounds like CCP introduced lag that has nothing to do with DoD.

I have 2 PC both with a main EVE client and a Sisi client installed years ago.

On the 1st I did the migration first the Sisi client last weekend, and did the migration on the main client today. I have ended with a 17,1 GB shared folder.

On the 2nd I did the migration the Sisi client last weekend too, but with the main client I moved the .stuff files and the /res/audio and /res/video folders into a temporary folder to play with the behaviour of the installer. I have ended with a 14,6 GB shared folder.

Then I set all the launchers to download all, and neither one downloaded anything.

How could it be? There are 2,5 GB outdated file, which the launcher didnt deleted, or one client missing the same ammount of data?
