I did, and it did downloaded some extra 260MB of stuff, and still lags in game like hell...

Yes - when I ran the launcher it crashed as others describe, I tried the manual patch and it starts to run and then pops up the error.

I've never come across that error, so the best I can offer is to try it as administrator, if it's not running as administrator already

Help please.
I started the launcher and started downloading... I left it... and when I came back it was still on 23% and with message window
"Exception". I tried the repair but also comes up with a error message at the end of step 7/7 ... "IOError: [Errno 13] Permission denied: 'C:\\EVE\\CCP\\EVE\\bin\\_GameWorld.dll'
Total Runtime: 0h00m16s"

my OS is windows vista

If you have set the launcher to download everything, and restarted the launcher after doing so, then you will not be able to log into the game before every resource for the client is downloaded. Hence, if there is lag, we'll have to look for other causes than download on demand.

My launcher works fine, but the game itself isn't launching. I can see exefile.exe in my task manager, but nothing shows up in windows 7.

From your log file it looks like your starting the older version of the EVE Launcher repeatedly. I can see this from the version number reported each time it starts being 859950 (in all but one case I think).

This is probably because you've pinned the EVE Launcher to your task bar, which locks the versioned executable and prevents it from updating.

The solution, if my guess is correct, is to run eve.exe directly and not to pin the EVE Launcher executable to the task bar.


Edit: nevermind, reinstall appears to have fixed your problem.


Can you please put this somewhere everyone can access easily without having to search through the whole forum thread.

Had my client pinned to task bar, wouldn't patch, bugged out a few times. Unpinned and it worked. I'd imagine a few people are having this issue.

Have you tried running as administrator? Or checking for running EVE processes? Something is either stopping you from accessing the file (such as permissions) or is keeping a lock on the file (such as a running EVE Client).

One my first attempt, the launcher wanted to download 13 gig, after closing and turning on the launcher, I am now stuck in offline mode.

Can you show me a screenshot where it tells you that it needs to download 13 GB? We've seen reports of people misreading the initial popup dialog that says it's going to migrate 13 GB of data to the shared resource cache, and I'm trying to ensure you're not making that same mistake.

My launcher is updated, logged in.

However, I can't launch the actual client (exe file is available in the task manger, but it's not showing up).

Hi.

So say we didnt read the article about the launcher and installed the new patch via the repair tool. The launcher has not done the 'caching' process.

Is there anyway to force this caching process to take place or am I stuck having download everything from the server again?

Unless you have another client install that has yet to be patched, then you would have to download everything again.
