so my thread was summarily closed, with this final post by ccl:

ISD Dorrim Barstorlode

"I have actually lost count of the number of Eve is dying threads there are. If anyone out there knows the actual number I would like to know it. Thanks!

Closed for redundancy."

My response.. if my thread wasn't closed prematurely by CCP is: well .. YOU HAVE THE NUMBERS. And, you don't make them public because it is proprietary information.

YOU TELL US. Instead of summarily closing threads being snarky with your long-standing members.. how about you release your numbers? How many new accounts are being generated? How many of those new accounts are likely alt accounts of existing players? How about you NOT be snarky and glib in your responses to legitimate concerns regarding our sandbox?

Just because you are the best thing around at the moment doesn't give you license to abuse your membership....

Go away.

Oh, I perfectly understand, Hal Morsh — a mission like this requires courage, skill, and heroism… qualities you are clearly lacking. Have you forgotten you're one of the bloody immortals!?

A narrow view. CCP, like any business, relies on a consumer base. I know you must be "leet" just by the fact that you responded.

Do you really think CCP would continue to offer you Eve with 2000 paying members, each with 10 alts? Do you?

I agree.. CCP doesn't owe me anything. But you know what? When I cancelled my 2nd sub.. THEY sent me an email to ask WHY.

Like any consumer.. I will tolerate sub-standard product for so long, and then move on. I rather that that not happen. I rather that CCP considers the perspective from those others than a few people that have been with them since.. b4 .. whatever...

No. I do not believe EvE is dying - I do believe we go into up swings and down swings (Like a collective hive mind) at times. But for the most part I've actually felt like EvE has been vastly growing. That being said, it and its community will really have to push forward in the next while in order to prosper alongside the plethora of new Sci Fi and Sci Fi MMO's coming out.

I appreciate your reply: it is by far the most thoughtful and rational one I have heard.. including CCPs' own representatives.

My original post was not based on statistics. I never implied that they did. CCP has the numbers. And they don't release the numbers. And then.. one of their reps reply with some snarky comment about "well if you guys have the numbers..." No. I don't have the numbers. My post were based on plain observation from someone who has been with them for 3 years and have noticed a trend that concerned me. That was all it was. But then CCP leet admin got smart.. and other Leet EvE players piled on with more nonsense... and now we have a real discussion.

Yes.. there are other MMO's out there. Not as good as EvE. But you know what? That is also a temporary situation. As is my subscription. I had two subs. I cancelled one.. for the reasons I tried to outline. So by my count.. they have at least cost themselves over $150 by the changes.. and by being wholly unsympathetic to their paying consumer base.

My one sub won't bankrupt CCP. I know that. But if they want to continue to ignore their customers.. listening only to the 'leet' players who have multi-subs.. they are deluding themselves.

My only major point is that CCP needs to make a few changes to attract a new player base. That was all. And for that, I was subjected to snarky CCP admin and 'leet' trolls.

Given the changes to the policy concerning Input Broadcasting, and the constant "you're ruining your own game, CCP -unsubbed" since then, I have no doubt the numbers are lower than before but not so much so that it causes a concern. Consider the 26k (as of this post) of players that are on now.

Also all this "EVE is dying" is nothing but rabble-rousers trying to stir up trouble.

Responding to OP:
EVE is not sub-standard but you are probably a minority. If we take Null's population (pretending high sec alts and such are actually players and separate) then Null is about somewhere around 10%.

There are so many ways to play EVE and types of player, don't like a change? Go try another style of play.

Making a lot of noise and fuss without much substance or any unique perspectives. You mildly annoy people and waste our time.
Just leave. EVE needs some Darwinism in the player base.

There is this thing, right?
It is sort of wooden.
Well actually, it is a slice of a log.
So, anyway, like I put a stick through the middle and it rolls around.
I want to call it a wheel.
Aren't I clever?
Now this wheel it is not very good because I cut it from a pine tree and I totally blame forestry department for not planting the mahogany trees where I wanted to cut trees!
HOW DARE THEY DO THAT?!
FREAKING GREENIES?!

Listen! LISTEN! I have an opinion about this! What you say doesn't matter!
I HAVE THIS UNIQUE IDEA and PERSPECTVE!!!
Mahogany trees much be planted over here so I can make better wood wheels!

What do you mean you have metal alloy wheels with rubber tires?!
SHUT UP AND LISTEN TO MY OPINION!!!
IT MATTERS!!!
I MATTER!!!

Already cancelled a sub. They sent me a survey asking why. My post .. in a DISCUSSION FORUM... was my reply. I was discussing something that concerned me.

And yet.. all of you 'leet' players felt compelled to reply.

I posted a few things that concerned me in a DISCUSSION FORUM. I don't care if you want to waste your OWN TIME reading and then replying to something you disagree with.

It was an opinion posted in a discussion forum. That is all it was.

If you are not involved in high sec, then why bother to opine? You know what? I might decide to leave. And so may many others. I have already closed one sub. I'd rather not have to close the other.

Your way is not the only way. Telling people who have concerns that are not your own to simply 'leave' is incredibly obtuse and narrow. As I have said: do you really think CCP will persist with 2,000 'leet' players with 10 alts? We NEED new membership! That is ALL I am trying to say!

But whatever.. flame on... because high sec and new players have no bearing on your continued existence in this sandbox

I agree! You know what? I did that in the appropriate forum.. and a CCP rep CLOSED THE THREAD as repetitive. Must be nice to quash any voice of concern or opposition, huh?

If they really don't give a flying flip about what their paying members think.. they ought not FAKE IT and send out irrelevant surveys with the plea: "why.. but why???"

Try reading the OP before you make another silly statement

EVE will persist a whole lot better with one less drama queen such as yourself.
We all know that EVE needs more players, I have had a few friends join and re-join EVE since I started playing again. I am making an effort to get people into the game instead of whining about things.

.... and you know what? The new players are loving it. They have not idea what you are complaining about because it does not matter to them, it was gone by the time they got here.

Thank You, Sir. THAT IS MY POINT!!! We know how many characters are logged in, when we log in ourselves. To use your number .. 26,000 'on' now.

But we all know that is not the real number. How many of those are BOTS? How many of those are ALTS? We DON'T KNOW. I imagine that CCP does. Its their business. But you know what? They won't reveal how many, actual, bonified, NEW PLAYERS.. they are attracting.

My OP was simply that it seemed that any new character in high sec was an alt. That is all I said. And I offered a few suggestions. And then the 'leet' null sec players got involved.. lol...

So basically: you are doing their work for CCP. You are a minion.

All I tried to convey was that CCP needs to consider a few things to attract new players. That was it.

Entitlement?

How you figure?

I am a paying customer. I posted my OPINION on a DISCUSSION FORUM.

Entitlement implies receiving something for nothing. I pay for this subscription just the same as you. I simply voiced an opinion on a discussion forum.. just as you have

Are you not then, entitled, by your very own definition?

Oh .. i'm sorry. You're a Goon. Answered my own question...
