I'm hoping to get our in-game event a little more visibility and to help make sure this shows up on ISD's and the Live Events team's radar.

While conceived as a broad-scoped research and science conference focusing on whatever subjects are topical at the time of the individual conferences, due to the timing, it looks like the focus this time around is going to be on Drifters, Sleepers, Seekers and the Unidentified Structures.

Information on the conference can be found in these threads:

Hope to see you there.

  • After Kuvekai entered Yulai (planet 2) and later on The Promised Land (planet 1) to form Violent Wormholes into the Stain region, we sadly had to have the Summer of Rage and the eve lore and live events suffered for it because of CCPgames upper echelon management mistakes.

  • The interactions between Nation (Ghost Hunter) and Capsuleer independence fell of the storyline board, and all that was left was running lucrative incursions. On occasion CCP would spawn Sansha NPC fleets, but only for promotional purposes during gaming conferences.

  • source: http://jestertrek.com/eve/blog/2011/PAXle1.jpg

  • After more than 2 years of waiting CCPgames again tried to do live events but on a small scale at first, it was about Ishukone relief convoy safely makes it to caldari prime after attempted capsuleer interdiction with Grideris (aka CCP Logibro, our current epic CSM minutes master)

  • source: http://pastebin.com/xtyUeYSa

  • The live events evolved around Caldari Prime and the Gallente Federation with Dust514 and Eve Online merging for real for just one day.

  • source: http://community.eveonline.com/news/news-channels/world-news/shiigeru-destroyed-federation-navy-offensive-in-luminaire-still-ongoing-1/

  • Then hubris had to struck CCPgames again by running a live event from hisec into Syndicate, aka Nullsec.
  • The amount of capsuleers lured by CCP to the event, caused massive Time Dilation (TIDi) and gave nullsec alliances and pirate organisations time to muster forces at Syndicate gates. CCPgames also mentioned the destination system of the live event so the route was properly bubbled.
It was know as the Greatest AWOX in the History of Eve Online, and CCPgames called it a great success while partying.

  • If any live events will be run again the story would no doubt be about recent sightings of Drifters, Circadian Seekers and the new wormholes and unidentified structures.
  • I would like to see The Prophecy of Macaper tied into these (live) events, but run by COMPETENT live event actors who love and know how to play the game.

Was there something constructive you were trying to do here, given that this is a player-run event, and you're ranting about GM events?

The comment is a historical view about live events, however IF it is a 100% player run event I fully support it Cool

    For constructive feed back:

I believe the Drifters are tied into the The Prophecy of Macaper

It is tied into the sixth event: “what was many now becomes one when one becomes four”

The first 3 events that give credibility to the prophecy and have already come to pass which are as follows:

The first event in Macaper’s prophecy she described as “the cosmetic kiss of the comets” and this is exactly what happened in a remote Caldari system in YC 100 when two large comets collided head on.
The clash occurred within the boundaries of the solar system, but not close enough to any of the planets to cause any drastic effects. Debris from the comets disturbed space traffic for a while, but that was all. Albeit a very rare event, the comet collision was not connected to the prophecy at this time.
(source: http://eve-history.net/wiki/index.php/Timeline, could not find any official eve online link)

The second calamity took place a few months after the first calamity when the planet Fricoure in the Gallente Federation was flooded by rains which lasted for weeks. Scientists could easily explain this by citing shifts in the weather patterns in the upper atmosphere and it wasn’t until a diligent astrology student pointed out the similarities between this downpour and the second event of Macaper’s prophecy that people began taking notice.
(source: https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Fricoure says Flooding on Fricoure VI in YC 105, this should be fixed imho)

The third calamity is described by Macaper as being a “roaring stone that silences the world.”
In YC101 an asteroid entered the atmosphere of the planet Rumida in the Amarr Empire, impacting in the ocean. In addition to damaged infrastructure and lost lives, thousands of people were left deaf due to the intense sound waves generated by the asteroid as it traveled through the atmosphere.
(source: https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Rumida says around YC 100, should be fixed more accurately to YC 101)

    source first 3 events: https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Seven_Events_of_the_Apocalypse

Four more events are to take place according to the prophecy and speculations about their nature abound. Many claim expertise in the prophecies, but none can inform us with any certainty about what is to transpire. The fourth event is described by Macaper as “the appetite of nothing expands over the world”; the fifth is described as “the little brother makes the final sorrowful steps home; he is not welcome”; the sixth is described as “what was many now becomes one when one becomes four”; culminating in the seventh “return of the dark light from the heart of the mother”, as Macaper described it.

Now this is where I add my own interpretation of the prophecy and how the Drifters are tied into the sixth event.

The fourth calamity is described as “the appetite of nothing expands over the world.”
I believe this is Dawn of the Empyrean Age in YC 105, where pod and clone technology are tied into eachother.
Now that capsuleers are immortal and invincible compared to the rest of the denizens of New Eden, they spread out in to the "world" with an appetite of "nothing" (from the expression All or Nothing; it is all or none)
It is with the spread of capsuleer presence, more mysteries of New Eden are explored and exposed Cool

We know from the description from the Gallente Titan Erebus the following:

    Quote:
From the formless void's gaping maw, there springs an entity. Not an entity such as any you can conceive of, nor I; an entity more primordial than the elements themselves, yet constantly coming into existence even as it is destroyed. It is the Child of Chaos, the Pathway to the Next.

The darkness shall swallow the land, and in its wake there will follow a storm, as the appetite of nothing expands over the world.

From the formless void's gaping maw, there springs an entity.

    Dr. Damella Macaper
The Seven Events of the Apocalypse

The formless void is Anoikis, where and entity (something alive) sprang from. This entity such unlike any you can concieve of is the pathway to the "next", was none other then Jovians who brang with them Hydrostatic Capsule technology in AD 23224.

    source: https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/The_Jovian_Wetgrave

The darkness shall swallow the land, and in its wake there will follow a storm, as the appetite of nothing expands over the world.
About 20 years later (YC 0-5) when the Hydrostatic Capsule technology became available to the 4 empires, Macaper wrote her prophecy and in it she saw that when combined with already existing cloning technology a "darkness" could be created that could swallow the land.
In that time period the transference of a mind into a machine was already slowly explored, the earliest brain scan was in YC 20.

I also wonder if there is also a hint in: When the ears hear only, The mouth shouting. And the eyes see only, The fingers broken, The world has turned, And God has gone. Left us with fond memories, Of sweet life without pain. -- Apocalypse Verse 8:18

The fifth calamity is described as “the little brother makes the final sorrowful steps home; he is not welcome”.
I believe it is the return of the Nefantar to the seven tribes of the minmatar, but till today are not welcomed with open arms.

When the Minmatar where enslaved by the Amarr from their home planet Matar, or "Old Mother", during The Day of Darkness in AD 22355, the Nefantar elite began working with the Amarr to ensure the exemption of their families as the raids continued. In AD 22480 the Amarr escalate their slave raids into a war of conquest against the Minmatar, invade and conquer Matar. The Nefantar had already during the 150 years prior moved their capital to Hjoramold VII. Every Minmatar not of their tribe was enslaved as the Nefantar committed themselves fully to the Amarr faith. So impressed was Emperor Damius III that he granted the Amarr governor of the Ani constellation only nominal powers, and poetically names them as 'Ammatar'. The word was quickly picked by the Minmatar slave population who used it as a derogatory term for the tribe that had betrayed its brethren.

The first crack in the relationship between the Nefantar and their Amarr overlords came in 22762 AD with the secession of the Khanid Kingdom. The destruction of Starkman Prime in 22947 AD drove this invisible wedge further, and unbeknownst to the rest of the tribe, the Nefantar leadership began moves to shelter and protect the remaining members of the Starkmanir tribe. Papers were forged and much strong-arming and coercion were used as the Nefantar acquired a great number of Starkmanir slaves, hiding them in plain sight on their holdings. The Nefantar would later claim the protection of the Starkmanir as their primary motivation for siding with the Amarr during the Minmatar Rebellion, and the Elders confirmed they approved the plan.

    More follows soon™ Cool

Yes, it is a 100% player run event.

Unfortunately, the events boards are a bit muddled, and it was just today that I realized I may've published this in the wrong place.

It's actually the fourth conference in its series. The first was about the initial wormhole phenomenon.

So the Fifth calamity described as “the little brother makes the final sorrowful steps home; he is not welcome” are almost definitively The Drifters.
