I don't know that these off-grid drone squads should be nerfed but I don't think anybody can realistically deny that drones are super strong right now.

Sentry Vexors are freaking ridiculous, then you've got carriers that are able to strike you from anywhere across the solar system... pretty damn powerful

You go look at the frigate level warfare and when you look at Tristans and stuff like that they are nowhere near as dominant in their field as Ishtars and Vexors are in their class. You've got sentries and geckos and off-grid fighter squads, it's pretty crazy. Probably a lot of people right now wished they had trained Gallente drone boats.

Realistically I don't see this going on for that much longer until CCP bring about some kind of nerf, even if it is a minor nerf.

Again, carriers and fighters have been around for years...it's likely gotten worse because more people have trained capital ships with the price dropping so rapidly (seriously, a carrier is about as much as a Black Ops).

Fighters die very quickly under concentrated fire and webs. Sentries aren't much different and they're vulnerable once the controlling ship is out of scoop range. They can also be bombed off the field in 0.0. In lowsec...well...pick your battles better.

Just because something has been going on for a long time, that is not a good reason to keep it around, especially if it's broken.

You just can't use that as an excuse. "Well, it's been happening for years so why complain now?"

If the game was crap for years that doesn't mean it shouldn't be fixed.

I'm not even saying this mechanic is broken, I'm just saying the fact that it has been around for a long time really has nothing to do with discussing the balance of the game mechanic.

funny that so many broken game mechanics are connected to poses, isn't it?

What game mechanic is broken? A carrier that assigns his fighters to another pilot? When did you start playing this game, first time out of highsec maybe? ? This has been going on for years and it's not broken, it's working as intended.

Yes, it's working as intended. We are saying that the intended game mechanic is not well balanced any more with the changes from the lsat couple of releases.

Jump changes means there is less risk of an anemy titan or super comming after you.
DDA and Onis working on fighter mean they can now track interceptors.

Assigning fighters offgrid is super lame in my opinion. I've done it, my alliance mates do it every day and it's still lame.

The risk is minimal, close to zero, and you're getting a carriers worth of dps on a grid without risking said carrier. Should only work on the same grid in my opinion.

Why is everyone bitching about this tactic when it has been going on ever since fighters were put in the game? Why all the uproar now, did I miss something, I am a bit dense, please fill me in. What's next, are we going to reopen the thread on how lame afk cloakers are, or how lame it is to be scammed in jita? Maybe it has something to do with the influx of new players and they run to the forums the first time they get broadsided by game mechanics they don't fully understand. Let's reopen the thread on how lame offgrid boosters are while were at it.

This came up since Tracking links, drone hp rigs and DDAs now affect Fighters and theyre able to hit subcaps reliably.

Fighters should work like drones.

You want to assist your inty friend with a few thousand DPS? Be a man and put that capital ship on the field.

That'd be so easy.

Pretend I could be bothered to quote this about a dozen times for people going "but you could assign Fighters for years, why is it suddenly a problem now?"
