By now I'm sure many of you are hearing the reports of the "Drifters" and their battleships (of a technological level far superior than any of our most advanced T3 models) which are capable of takings out Carrier class vessels with little difficulty. Anyway with all this news about the "Drifters", many of you might not have noticed a change at the Unidentified Structure sites that are scattered throughout New Eden. That being said before I get into the details I would like to utter a quick thanks to Lucas Raholan for informing me about this change.

Anyway for those of you who did not know, recently sites called Unidentified Structures popped up throughout New Eden. At first these sites didn't actually contain any structures, but what appeared to be a sort of gas cloud (that you will see in the pictures bellow) that we had assume was some sort of cloaking device. Today I visited one of sites after being informed by Lucas of this change and proceed to find an extremely large structure that had appeared in the middle of the cloud. It is roughly 150km high (to try and give you an idea of it's scale) and shares similarities in my opinion with some of the old Jovian vessels. From my own experience after using various modules (such as a cargo scanner and a ship scanner) on the structure I have been unsuccessful at causing any reaction. I have yet to attempt to engage the structure as I do not think it would end well for my little Astero. I can inform you though that you should expect some very long lock times, in a frigate class vessels if you attempt to lock the structure.

This is what the sites originally looked like when they appeared.

What follows is a series of pictures that were taken in the system of Andrub of the Unidentified Structure today.

So as of this moment these structures are still unidentified, but at least they are now visible. Since I started writing though it has come to my attention that an official report regarding both these structures and the "Drifters" has been released which can be viewed here.

Anyway I hope I was able to shed some light on the matter for those of you who are unaware of the unfolding situation throughout New Eden.

One report has even indicated that the mysterious new threats are fully capable of destroying capital ships piloted by capsuleers.

End of the Empires in 3...

I try to be nice and mind my business just shooting lasers at rocks. There is just way too many asshats in New Eden for that to happen.

Possibly, however I'm seeing other reports that state that Dreadnought class vessels have enough shielding or armor to tank the new Battleships so called "dooms day device" . Roll

As of this moment I'm hearing more and more information emerging from Anoikis about the presence of structures (thanks to Samantha Calderon for the image) surrounding unidentified wormholes. Even in some cases members of Sanshas Nation. Could this be the same equipment that the Nation uses to stage incursions throughout New Eden?

I was wondering if a page like that existed! Big smile Cheers for the link, it should get pretty interesting, but I thought there would be more kills...

Weren't we warned? The Drifters are the most OP NPC CCP has cast our direction. Given the fact they don't drop anything in any meaningful am out to be worth risking a Capitol class ship on why are people engaging them. For the lols? Roll

Something about blah blah blah Jovian's blah blah blah Invasion blah blah blah I MUST DEFEND NEW EDEN FROM THESE TERRORS! Roll

That being said a fleet did manage to take one down earlier, but I think they lost a few ships in the process. I did tell them they should watch cloaked from a distance. Roll

Hmm. I may be decorating that kill-board soon enough...

word of advice... although they *seem* to be non-hostile (at first they just tickled me with scanning beams), god help you if you approach one of the unidentified structures whilst they are around!

Is that so? From what I've heard the Drifters will engage first if you get too close.

I was able to fly right up to them, uncloak, get hit by their scan beam, eject, get scanned again in my pod, board my ship and fly off without them becoming aggressive at all, but the moment I flew up to the structure and de-cloaked (I wanted to fly along it to get a first-hand sense of scale), I was locked and then four shots later, blapped (the first three missed, and the fourth obviously one-shot my fragile Manticore). I could have escaped if I'd been faster on warping out, but I didn't realise until too late what was happening.

Ah... Well I didn't bump into a Drifter when I was researching the structure, but I stayed cloaked the entire time I was at the location.

I've heard they do but in a frigate I could be out of the system before they could do anything I imagine, I saw a yellow frame so, I don't think they instalock, not sure how long it took them though.
