Saving routes on the map.

TLDR : Went on a 40 system roam why can't I plug in and then save a route.

Will flesh this out when I am not so tired :)

Sure why not.

I can see several valuable uses for such a feature.

I was thinking this too.

It would aid the ability to make a quick detour to say, a station, without having to re-map your entire route once done.
It would also be helpful for manual routes which avoid heavy traffic.
