Good evening community,

to make the access to the entire contents of EVE easier for newer players I would like to add a group system to EVE.
It is not to make the entry into the game easier, but to make the versatility faster available.

On the main page of that system should be the main content groups of the game:

  • PVP
  • PVE
  • Mining
  • Industry
  • Trade
  • Roleplay

Two examples:
If you want to create a group.
(In that example I want to create a group for my public npsi community "Stille Gewalt")
Step by Step:

  1. Open the group system
  2. Select PVP
  3. Click "New Group"
  4. Enter the highlights i want to use: "NPSI", "Fleet PVP" and "New Player Friendly"

    • Maybe "Fleet PVP" & "New Player Friendly" already exist, so i select them.
    • So i have to create a new "Highlight" called "NPSI", there are 3 thing i need:
    • Short: NPSI
      Long: Not Purple Shoot It
      Descriptiong: blablabla
    • After that someone of CCP, ISD or maybe CSM has to approve the new highlight.
    • Until that the highlight will not show in the groups and in the recent groups list

  5. Type in a name for my new group, select the main language and put in a little description.
  6. Now it is created and everyone can see it.

If you want to join a group.
(In that example I want to search groups in the PVP section)
Step by Step:

  1. Open the group system
  2. Select PVP
  3. On the first page it shows the most recent groups, sorted by players in all groups -> existing groups

  4. Maybe it shows something like that

    • Fleet PVP (7.000 players / 5 groups)
    • NPSI ( 2.000 players / 7 groups)
    • Solo PV ( 300 players / 3 groups)

  5. OH, what is NPSI, so i click it and get the description

    • NPSI
    • Not Purple Shoot It
    • A group of PVP interested people who want to kill everything, everywhere and everytime.

  6. Oh that sounds great, so i select NPSI
  7. There i get now:

    • RVB Ganked (1.234 players) (en)
    • Spectre Fleet (850 players) (en)
    • Stille Gewalt (650 players) (de)
    • Eve Flight School (400 players) (ru)

  8. I'm german so i press "join Stille Gewalt"
  9. The groups system create access to the Chat Channel, Mailing List, a little Board, News List, Fittings... like a corporation but with the difference that it is public (if you want it to be public) and you can join more than one.

- GET PLAYERS TOGETHER
- That would be good for everything where you have to use google, the board or contacts in eve to get there. I'm pretty sure, many new players know that there are groups for incursions, pvp, exploring, role play. The most people think they have to join a corporation to get access to that content or still don't know that this content exist.

The Fleet Finder could certainly use a few more bells and whistles...

But you have to understand that best way to become part of a group/fleet is by finding one that will let you in first... because we are all paranoid and spies are a real thing.

For example: I would not allow some random person to join my fleets unless I properly vetted them first. I do not enjoy the idea that I could be inviting a spy that wants to feed intel to my enemies (or a hostile group that is looking for "easy targets").

Basicly the Fleet Finder just needs Public Fleets (can be found publicly through Fleet Finder).
The name and details of the advert should easily do the rest.

So you need to always have a fleet up if you want to show people your incursion group, npsi community, 3d party tool, trade group ......................................................

The "Fleet" System is not that what i talk about.

CCP Fozzie also went over the social groups feature that they still have on the table, though not in active
development at this time. Sugar Kyle brought up the difference between the idea of a social club vs a
social corporation. CCP Fozzie agreed there's a difference, and that the Social club is a good way to put it
to differentiate them. This would allow people to do things like a have chat room, mailing list, personal
standings, allow things such as fleet finder adverts to clubs and so on. It would also allow you to belong
to multiple clubs, and would have no impact on your corporation membership.

I didn't saw that, so thats maybe a idea how to apply that change :D

Isn't a form of this already in the works under the working title "societies" along with the "corp lite" concept?

I don't recall that post looking anything like that when I posted but then I may just have missed it although it is such a shame that edits aren't time stamped.

That aside I think the social system could be an interesting development, it would certainly make it easier to get friends into fleet.

To be honest, it is possible that the editing has overlapped with your post.

You are a shameless liar. Twisted

Regarding your proposal, this is in debate for quite some time already under different names. Actually I give Mangala the credit to start the discussion on that.

The main points for "social clubs" are:
- fleet adverts
- temporary standings
- channels
- roles
- independent from corps
- maybe secret

... just the things you need to better organize NPSI or other out-of- or cross-corp activities.

- okay, changed the main language thing :D

- That had apparently completely passed me.
But I think Mangala has the same background, why he wants such a system, as me. :D

I think the flaw in your plan has to do with telling the truth. I make a NPSI fleet and roll out to HED. We jump in and I slaughter a bunch of noobs by my own hand or w/ the help of my waiting gang.

Just because I fill in some boxes - there is nothing binding me to what I filled in.

Spectre fleet has it right. Just a group of folks that go do stuff in the confines of that ad hoc group. No forms, no check boxes. It works as is. Making a standard to follow just draws in the folks that want to manipulate the standard for lols.

My point on that ... creating and handling a social group shall be similar to a corp but simpler of course. Social groups shall be long lived, for ad hoc events, you can announce fleets within that group. Betraying your fleet mates would likely be a one-time event then ...
