The Proteus release has been successfully deployed!

This release brings a whole host of module rebalancing and the introduction of several new module variants, as well as a redesign of the Exequror cruiser hull, new visual effects in asteroid belts to improve immersion, a re-balance of Recon cruisers, new features for the Beta Starmap, the introduction of small scale mining anomolies for rookie pilots in starter systems, the retiremement of Teams, new audio for Aura in Russian and German, and an awesome new theme tune from CCP RealX.

For more information on the Proteus release, and to see a full list of features, take a look at the Proteus release page, and read more about what's coming in CCP Seagull's "Coming to EVE in the Proteus release" dev blog. For a full and detailed breakdown of changes please see the patch notes for Proteus.

I just want to use this opportunity to complain because I don't pay attention to all the discussion before the patch.

Also, will there be an optional potato paint job for the domi?

Looking forward to the new Recons. :D

The patch notes are a damned mess though when it comes to the module changes... here's some excerpts:

2 Penalties?
Quote:

Dark Blood Capacitor Power Relay

Shield Boost Penalty – -8% (was -10%)
Imperial Navy Capacitor Power Relay
Shield Boost Penalty – -8% (was -10%)

Khanid Navy Capacitor Power Relay

Shield Boost Penalty – -8% (was -10%)
True Sansha Capacitor Power Relay
Shield Boost Penalty – -8% (was -10%)

2 sets of stats for one mod:
Quote:

Nanofiber Internal Structure I

Velocity Modifier – 7.75% (was 7.85%)
Inertia Modifier – -13% (was -13.1%)

...

Nanofiber Internal Structure I

Velocity Modifier – 9.5% (was 9.4%)
Inertia Modifier – -16 (was -15.8)

Bonus misnomer:
Quote:

Synthetic Hull Conversion Inertia Stabilizers

Signature Radius Bonus – 6% (was 5.5%)

Domination Inertial Stabilizers (NEW Module)

Signature Radius Bonus – 7%
Inertia Modifier – -20.5%

Shadow Serpentis Inertial Stabilizers (NEW Module)

Signature Radius Bonus – 10%
Inertia Modifier – -21.5%

And there are formatting problems too where Miner I and Single Diode Basic Mining Laser are both listed as list items underneath Civilian Miner header.

I don't judge people by their race, religion, color, size, age, gender, or ethnicity. I judge them by their grammar, spelling, syntax, punctuation, clarity of expression, and logical consistency.

The Minmatar one is tentatively scheduled to come in the february patch, and the Caldari one will come in a patch sometime after that, with the Galente one coming last in a patch after that.

From the patch notes:
Quote:
Inertial Stabilizers

All Inertial Stabilizer modules are now consistently named Inertial Stabilizers instead of some being Inertia Stabilizers and some Inertial Stabilizers.
And then right under that:
Quote:
Synthetic Hull Conversion Inertia Stabilizers
k.

Also, I brought this up on Reddit, but your naming convention isn't being followed properly. Name designations for modules need offsetting single quotes, while technical or descriptive ones do not. You mix the conventions during your update of the module names.
Basic Expanded Cargohold became 'Basic' Expanded Cargohold. "Basic" is not a name, it is a descriptive term. It shouldn't have offsetting quotes. I did an analysis of the mining laser changes and their naming inconsistencies as well.

Mining Lasers

Civilian Miner - Civilian is descriptive and needs no offset.

EP-SGaussian Scoped Mining Laser - EP-S is a technical designation and needs no offset. "Gaussian Scoped" is descriptive of how the module works or is designed and needs no offset.

Miner II - Yup.

Gallente Mining Laser - Faction name is descriptive.

Single Diode Basic Mining Laser - Descriptive.

Particle Bore Compact Mining Laser - Descriptive.

Mining Laser Upgrades (Ore and Ice)

ElaraRestrained Mining Laser Upgrade - Elara is a named designation and needs to be offset with single quotes. Restrained is descriptive and needs no offset.

'Carpo' Mining Laser Upgrade - Named.

'Aoede' Mining Laser Upgrade - Named.

Frigoris Restrained Ice Harvester Upgrade - Frigoris is named and needs to be offset. Restrained is descriptive.

'Anguis' Ice Harvester Upgrade - Named.

'Ingenii' Ice Harvester Upgrade - Named.

ElaraRestrained Mining Laser Upgrade - Elara is named and needs to be offset. Restrained is descriptive.

If you're gonna go to all the trouble of creating a naming convention, stick with it!

The starmap looks fine but honestly, who will use it ? Dotlan or GARPA are better as they can be used more efficiently when doing anything else in the game (the great power of alt-tab...), and offer features like the calculation of the route between two locations where we aren't physically. You are wasting precious energy for nothing, unless you are willing to copy them and so then we are talking.

Still, no RGB sliders, nor better themes and so still only dark ones... I will have to strain my eyes all the time apparently when I do market and anything else. No opaque neocom when the rest is opaque... The previous "Operating System" UI was far better than the new one because of a better usability and coherence...

And so, thanks CCP to refuse to correct something you broke in a previous expansion, as usual. I hope that one day, you will consider more important to repair all broken things of EvE than adding stuff whose role is mostly to hide the terrifying mess you accumulated all this years...

Belts look terrific, however claims that the new effects wouldn't effect frame rates simply aren't true. Not that I have the greatest system, but when I go into the new belts I go from being capped out at 60 fps full time to 30 ish fps and struggling. Looking away from the sun and the god rays bounces the fps back to 50-60 but looking towards those nice pretty rays kills it.

When Rhea first came out I experienced a similar drop any time window blur was enabled, this went away after one of the following updates I presume due to some sort of optimization so I'm wondering if the same can be expected in this case.
