That would be awesome if you had at least two different kinds of ships for every kind of ship. Like the blackbird (which is the best ship in the game I'd say) have two options for the same ship or 3 or 4 or 5.

given how fitting works you can already have an absurdly large amount of kinds of blackbird.

and for a given ship no rule says you have to follow fotm.


Or even fit to its hull bonuses. Before hybrid buff it was very viable on some ships to run another turret system. Laser rokh was good for this imo. Lost some range but if old boy was expecting crappish damage split on the hybrid ammo surprise....em or thermal coming your away.

That's like the old Arty Abaddons of a few years ago. Long range capless weapons on a buffer bonused hull made people unhappy.

Redundant post, theres plenty of faction ship out there. Price was not mentioned in OP, Modules cover the variety redquired, as well as the existing variety of hulls. You can cross train, and the selection is astounding.

Use the force without consent and the court wont acquit you even if you are a card carryin', robe wearin' Jedi.

The price depends on the player run market. And perhaps can influence the game in a big way because of the wanting of your favorite ship or the best designed ship and lower prices on least favorite ships.

They already do influence the game, and people already do buy for preference, usually what they percieve to be the right hull, probably being mistaken. You are not comming up with anything that was not implemented when the game came out.
