I've said it once and I'll say it again.

Dust 514 is ****** from day 1 just because it is a PS 3 exclusive.

Not making it for the PC (where, by the way, Eve Online, the game that made you what you are, CCP, you ungrateful sellout morons, is played) was a brain dead mistake.

Dust will be going against COD and Halo, both of which have huge fan bases that not even Battlefield3 was able to fight against MW 3, and Battlefield has a huge fan base and history.

When I first heard about Dust, I was super mega hyped, but then you dumbasses decided to make it console only, which is a surefire way to make me and thousands of other Eve players not want to touch it.

That being said, I ******* hate consoles, and no wonder how much I love eve, I won't buy a **** console just to play Dust, I have an 8k € PC for that.

You're wrong on sooo many counts it's hardly worth responding. Dust will be a slow burn success, mark my words. Why you nay-sayer's keep comparing it to other FPS's is beyond me since it's NOTHING like them....apples and pineapples.

Really, you should inform yourself at least a little before spouting your nonsense all over the forum. As CCP has said numerous times, they're going for a minimal "download fee" of like $20, which is then instantly converted to the equivalent in microtransaction funds for you to spend in the game. So effectively, for those who actually want this game, it's free to play in a way.

Brooks please provide links to your sources for delayed launch and the use of the unreal 2 engine.

In addition I would say that Eve is a great sucsess as it has funded not only itself by the creation of 2 other games.

My apologies on the mistype its actually UR3 engine. Which even still was a engine that was released 7 years ago. As for the delays I don't have sources nor do I believe any set date was ever released. However 3 years since conception and 2 years since they licensed a premade engine, and CCP still doesn't have a release date nor have started beta.

Also your 2nd point is laughable at most. If you haven't noticed CCP recently laid off 20% of its work force due to the fact that it COULD NOT fund the creation of 2 other games simultaneously and has cut back development on WoD. As well as prompted a restructuring of the company. Also if you read what I said I stated from the "MMO Industries" standpoint not mine or your personal opinion. I do think Eve has had a great success considering the idea of a single sharded, PVP focused MMO was a ideology that died with UO. However CCP did get over confident and grew too quickly for a single title company.

Edit: To clear things up I was referring the console age as well as the engine, in regards to competing with other Online FPSs not single player. Add to the fact that people seem to think Dust will be a slow burn growth, it wont have the time until the next Gen is released.

You can buy a PS3 2nd hand for less money that it costs to upgrade to the latest graphics card.

Some people underestimate the amount of people who have PS3's and will play a quality 3rd person shooter for half the price of a AAA title, that will be constantly updated for free, and expanded for free. And where each battle is meaningful in a bigger picture and the maps aren't repetitive corridors. And you get to fly gunships and drive tanks!!!!

Even if Dust 514 peaks at 1000 active users a day it will be a success in terms of dust/eve interaction.

As an eve player you have nothing to lose by Dust existing. There is no reason for the pathological Dust hate.

If your jealous about the xbox thing, man up and buy a 160gb PS3 (which costs less than an iPod touch, iPad and most good mobile phones). And as for the controller, I use my xbox controller on my ps3 cus I have a converter.

As for the whole "should be on the PC " thing. I played Planetside the ability to make wall hacks and CoF hacks ruined the game a lot more than the BFRs did.

You forgot the part where CCP charges you the price of the game (pobably 60 bucks) + 20 bucks *entrance fee* to buy in-game currency to get weapons and ****...

Oh, and you also forgot the part where they will milk the **** out of you, so that you can get that new shiny gun or vehicle, so that you eventually pay as much as you would to get a whole gaming computer just to be able to compete with all the other pay2win guys.

You'll see... It will be just like Battlefield Heroes, where you have to spend like 300 dollars to have any chance against anyone, because non-MT weapons are pathetic and underpowered compared to the ones people buy with real $$$.

OH! And I almost forgot!

Wow super troll detected. LOL Things you got so wrong already (i.e. -No clue what the **** you are talking about):

1. Dust will be a downloaded game for only 20 bucks. No hidden costs there.
2. You can transfer isk from Eve into Dust. Don't know about you but I can make plenty on my Eve account to support y Dust character.
3. You link some rag-mag opinion site (which you probably wrote yourself) to support your arguement. Pretty sad really.

Your worse than any 9-year-old console kiddie I ever played against in any FPS. Raggin about skit you just know knowing about...typical. Eve and Dust will be one universe, if you don't like it then unsub please. We all will miss you. 0i

As for needing the credit card next to you to play, we simply don't know how much it will cost to be competitive in the game. It could be that a good player only needs to pay the initial buy in and then can support all there in game activities with isk.

We could end up with a system where players who can't generate enough isk on there own buy the expensive cash weapons and sell them on the market, allowing players with excess isk to play for free. Much like the plex system works in eve currently.

One thing I don't understand about the Dust hate is why some think that playing an FPS with KB/mouse is so superior to a console controller. I, for one, LOATHE playing FPS games on with KB/mouse... absolutely hate it.

And now, cue the "if you were a real FPS player you'd realize the superiority of KB/mouse controls moron" posts...

As far as what you enjoy using, that is most definitely down to personal preference. But it is a fact that the keyboard/mouse combo allows for greater accuracy and speed.

Possibly because you have better control and accuracy when using KB/Mouse then with a joystick. Though same as you dislike KB/Mouse many despise using a controller/joystick for FPSs. To each his own.

My (unanswered) questions to CCP:

(1) Cost
How much money has and will be spent in development of Dust and associated Dust technology?
How much money will be apportioned to the server infrastructure to support Dust?
How much marketing $ have and will be spent in promotion of Dust?
How much EVE online revenue have and will be spent in development, promotion and support of Dust?

(2) Features
How many Dust players will be necessary for the link between EVE & Dust to work effectively?
What impact will low numbers have on the EVE economy?
What impact will high numbers have on the EVE economy and support staff requirements to handle high numbers?
In the event of high numbers, will EVE staff be reallocated?
In the event of low numbers, will Dust staff be allocated to EVE instead?

(3) Failure
What are the circumstances for CCP to categorize Dust as a failure?
What are the circumstances for CCP to categorize Dust as a success?
What does the ROI need to be in the first month? the first quarter? the first 6 months? the first year?

(4) Contingency
In the event of catastrophic failure: poor reviews, low income, low player count, atrocious and/or uncompelling game-play mechanics with little risk/reward ratios neatly implemented; will CCP admit defeat and 'offline' the game? OR will CCP dogmatically 'stick to their guns' and run the game into the ground, apportioning revenue from other sources (EVE) in a vain attempt to make a success of a party with no attendees?

I sent this to 'The Ivory Tower' in Iceland...they must have received it.

I have a question for you: Are you an investor (and no, I'm not talking about your measly sub), or otherwise invested in CCP's business to such a degree that would warrant even considering a response to your nosy questions? If not, then as a player, you shouldn't even have wet dreams of having any of these questions answered. If I were in charge over at CCP HQ, I'd be laughing that you even sent them over. I mean, who do you think you are to demand they be answered? Do you expect this with EVERY game you play? Seriously, some people's kids...

I have to agree with this guy, how on earth did you come to the conclusion that CCP owes you the answer to any of those questions, most of which by the way they probably wouldnt answer even if you were a serious investor and not some random idiot on the internet, and can I have some of whatever it is because damn that stuff is strong.

The only point that would/should be answered is #2 about features. Everything else is something laughable to even ask for unless your a investor. While I may bash CCP and Dust, even I wouldn't expect answers to those types of questions.

Edit: Except for the last 2 points about reallocating staff.

Whatever...

Expect an *I told you so* thread from me in about 1 year, when Dust will have failed horribly.

Mark the date and my words in the calendar.

I've been gaming since the eighties, I think I know what the **** I am on about, this is not my first game, and certainly not my first MMO, and I have a freaking lot of insider information about the industry .

I've seen many similar cases like Dust in the past, where an overambitious developer managed to **** all over a potential success by being unrealistic and overambitious.

The thread I will make in about one year (or less) will be titled *Dust died in a fire, I told you so!* and will link to this post, and your faces will fall off as you see that everything I ranted about here turned out to be correct, and you clueless gits turned out to be wrong and overconfident.

I hope Sony gave CCP money to help cover the costs of development in return for making the game a PS exclusive. I can't see this game being particularly successful, but I hope I'm wrong. CCP does need something going on besides EVE though, esp. now that WoD is on the back burner.

Hell, everyone in this thread that disagrees with me can make a thread called *Freezehunter sucks* if Dust turns out to be a success (which it won't).
