How do you decide who has Notoriety planetside? Self managed RP that claims it?
Without a game system and a limited pool of reputation so if yours goes up someone else's has to go down, I don't think there is a good way to adjudicate such a system.

According to the lore, capsuleers have strong cults of celebrity in every major empire (and there's no empire more obsessed with celebrity than the Federation) and various communications companies sell read-only access to the IGS. Basically, anyone who professes strong pro-Federation sentiment on the IGS and/or has had significant involvement in something related to the Federation (the live events, FW, etc.) would probably have notoriety with Federal citizens.

That'd mean there are at least a dozen people I could name off the top of my head who have strong notoriety.

Sure, but how do you actually measure it in any meaningful way. If you want to have influence on an election there needs to be some meaningful way of measuring said influence other than 'well I RP that I have this cult across 10 worlds so I have lots of influence'.

FDU seniority, participation in previous Federation-centred live events, existing relationship with live event actors - there's tons of ways not related to people saying they're important to the Federation you could track this.

They could look at who has been most active in live events and or IGS, who has been most active supporting the Federation (high milita rank and/or high standings with the Federation and federation corporations), or even likes received on the forum.

There's plenty of different methods, and of course I would not say that a few people should definitely decide by themselves what happens, but if say, MOST of the Gallente who regularly post on IGS were to say they don't want Roden to be elected again, then if CCP DOES decide to reelect him, the news post will make note that it was a close election or somesuch, whereas if most of them show their support maybe the news posting will mention a landslide victory with capsuleer support.

One month left until presidential election will be held... even if it will be in form of news articles it would be cool to know the candidates. Mentas Blaque will be running again i guess ?

It's completely unacceptable that we had to nag the lore team just to get a single mention made of the presidential election, the most important political event in the Federation. It's frankly ridiculous that we are now having to nag you again just to get a list of the candidates.

It's the middle of christmas vacation, and the vast majority of the team are taking several well earned weeks of vacation.

Bear in mind when you're criticising, that the vast majority of the "lore team" are volunteers from within CCP, and work on this outside their regular working hours, while still having a 40+ hour week to work in their main roles.

That certainly does explain a lot of things.

And I have to say I really wish I could be more surprised that CCP will rush to comment on a brusque and admitedly unkind comment made by one person about them, but will ignore a thread full of genuinely enthusiastic people talking about how much they like the lore and wish there was more of it for an entire month.

Just because we don't reply to something, it doesn't mean we haven't seen it, or are ignoring it.

Most of those we know next to nothing about though, not even what voter blocs they are catering to, which seems to be more relevant than their current or former occupations.

Made a report based on the newsarticle released about the list of candidates.

Gallente Presidential elections have begun!

Jacus Roden is easy, we know him, has a wikipedia entry and such. Some searching gives you lots of info.

Celes Aguard, less known, but did run against Jacus Roden in previous elections, failed when the 'No-Vote!-bill passed, causing her withdrawal.

Shaileen Ramnev I feel is the outsider that can shake things up if CCP likes. While there's no info on her, the fact she's a former Major of Arcurio & a resistance fighter on Caldari Prime means she's the most interesting of the 4 'new/unknown' candidates. Could perhaps shake things up with the State if Shaileen gets into those publicly broadcasted discussions with other presidential candidates, forcing them to reveal their stance on State diplomacy & politics.

Remember, Militia wars are a thing!

The other 3 candidates don't seem to be anything serious. I could be wrong ofc, but sadly searching for info regarding them, comes up blank, with exception that 'Idama' is also an Intaki title/honorific, could be a hint that Eniaron Idama is Intaki.

PS: Jacus Roden looks like a grade A villain! More sinister then Kuvakei!

Is there any Gallente Faction Standing bonus to gain from this?
Some mission or other thing required to do?

Can we get Minmatar to vote for us?

I like what has been done as far as content with the introduction of candidates. I see a lot of potential for dynamic stories with these characters, and hope this isn't the last we hear of them.

Does anyone have any idea when the actual election date is? I've got ideas for in game activities, but it is hard to plan when you don't have any clear timeline.

By the way, having worked on some large political campaigns in the real world... basically everything is planned around "E Day." If you want to see emergent gameplay and players participating in the process, doing the kinds of things that political players do in reality, that piece of information is the most important one.

Ah, hell, I missed that. Kindof lame that its only mentioned in the one article down at the bottom. Would have been nice to have announced it more clearly and sooner.

Ah, I see the earlier article as well about the date. Totally missed it before.
