a mission that is about killing a single NPC ship that undocks from station.

- after you accept this mission, you wont know when this NPC will undock, you go on doing your missions as usual
- chances are big that he undocks same time as you accept some specific mission, perhaps he is a mole/spy waiting for his opportunity
- you would have to fit a scram to prevent him from leaving
- have to kill him within 30 seconds before he docks back up again
- outsiders can help you shoot him down, but they dont get bounty reward unless you invite them to fleet and share the mission rewards when mission is completed.
- Depending on how fast the NPC was killed (how many seconds) the reward can be bigger

It's to prepare carebears for high sec PVP.

CCP should add more NPC 0.0 space to open it up and liven things up: the Stepping Stones project.

I actually have to admit this is an Extruder suggestion I am inclined to like. More and more varied missions (and be it with RNG) and PVE content is always nice to have. This particular mission would furthermore prepare people for the joys of the popular station camping games in PVP without any complicated script and behavior simulations.
Plus, CCP could also expand this mission type into interceptor missions and chase missions to catch NPC; however, that would probably require some NPC code rework (NPC imba ECM when they want to warp away, for instance) and behavior scripts.

Still, better than effort put into the NES. Roll

My ridicule, heavy criticism and general pale outlook about your or CCP's ideas is nothing but an encouragement to prove me wrong. Give it a try.

There are lots of good reasons for this. Just because you don't see them does not mean others won't enjoy it.

1. It teaches basic skill at attacking somebody on undock

2. If the NPC is doing a cargo run, it will impact the market.

3. It's completely different from the other missions so it adds some excitement to the mix.

everybody loves a new story. it will add some excitement for capsuleers for a while, but eventually we will get bored again and we will want a new story. its the endless cycle of story telling.
maybe ccp should consider releasing new missions every 6-12 months, and even inform us as soon as pre-production has started so that we can get excited about the story same way we do about movies, maybe even a trailer lol

Which is, almost without exception, a huge mistake.

station games are fun, one just has to familiarize oneself with the pvp mechanics

And how does one do that when they're dealing with a random chance that an NPC might undock with them? If they're missioning, they're not going to be fit for station games. At all. If the rat is like any other rat in the game, it's not going to teach PVP skills. At all.

You could say same thing about 1 person taking on an entire fleet of NPC, its not very realistic nor practical way to learn basic pvp mechanics. It would be better with fleet vs fleet scenario or in this case station game type of scenario. But yes you are right PvE cant teach pvp accurately but it sure as hell can have the proper scenarios

The proper way to teach PvP is to ignore the station humping pussies.
