So with Christmas coming soon and my trial nearing it's end I have been thinking about going in for real and paying-at least for now. Considering my price range of about $40, that means I could either get 2 PLEX or 3 timecodes. With 2 plex I can redeem one for the 30 days and sell the other for ~800mill isk. (Also What's the probability for a random joe falling for a scam in Jita Twisted) Or I can get three months of play for a similar price. So it comes down to what's better:

A) One month of game time without having to worry about your wallet.
OR
B) Three months to play, but being relatively poor.

Also on a somewhat unrelated subject, it seems the price of PLEX has about doubled since this video came out. Is that inflation a bad sign for the economy for EVE?

The inflation has been capped, ccp addressed it with the changes in policy towards multiplexing
(See the sticky atop General Discussion)

Assuming you are financially stable I would just sub and buy a plex (from Amazon if you're living in the US).

A better question would be "what are the chances I couId find a legitimate trade in jita?"

Pretty sure that GTCs are no longer being issued by CCP, though there may still be some timecodes around waiting to be sold, once those are cleared there won't be any more. There was a dev blog about it a couple of months ago IIRC.
