Can the solar system background be Changed?

I would prefer a plain black option for combat or the tactical overlay. Some of these backgrounds are pretty bright.

Hit Escape then "Quit Game" and the background will be set transparent to your desktop background. Also, leaving a system through a stargate can change the background. I also heard that turning the monitor off will get you that authentic "space" look.

Personally, I just take my monitor, knock out the screen, pick up the frame, and then go outside, at night. Hold up it, and you get an impressively realistic space background.

Sure it can. But only if you change region that you're fighting in. As for pure black, I don't think there's any region that has a black backdrop so in that case - no.

Which solar system would that be?

Besides none of these systems being the solar system in the first place, of course.

We must accommodate the idiocracy.

Try the hue slider in your display control panel. Works even better if your mind state has been chemically altered.

Place Plexiglas over your screen. Use dry erase marker to color out the unwanted areas.

Also works great to give your portrait a handlebar mustache. For some reason the screen shot doesn't work with it though.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

So none of you has ever jumped into a sys only to find you have to swivel your screen because of the background "glare"? I just find it annoying sometimes. When trying to fly combat of any kind, I don't need a "Pretty Picture" in the background. Even the captain of a noob ship should be able to afford "shades" for his windows. Do the commanding officers of a modern navy ship get water splashed on them just because their ship is in a storm? Are you trying to tell me the captain of a starship "in game" cant set his preference for the display screen in front of him? I don't think he's flying it looking out the window!Roll

Yeah the backgrounds are annoying. There was a thread about it not too long ago. I guess CCP tried to alleviate it with the active window darkening of the new UI. But it doesn't help the modules at all. Would have been easier to just to make the backgrounds darker.

The reason they gave for the bright backgrounds was so that the shadow side of the ship gets more bounced light. Not worth it in my opinion.

I understand why they did it. (and it does look nice!) I just want to turn it off every now and then.

I thought they were brighter with all the mindless minions from your nullsec blob being that purple color.

Anyways I would prefer EVE to be much more darker mainly because that's how real space is but New Eden is in the middle of a giant nebula (not galaxy) so I guess thats why its so bright all the time.

Outer Passage has very little nebulous background. I'm told Deklein is the same.

Its a tactical decision. One that an FC can try and take advantage of...

Fighting with he sun to you back has always been a tactical consideration

a solar system is not your desktop

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value
