Who thought it was a good idea to hide brackets behind transparent windows? You should be ashamed of yourself.

I seriously feel that CCP don't care anymore about their paying customers.

Look back the last patches, all the and now tell me that CCP isn't caring? Are you serious? They changed the design of the GUI but not the whole game. You guys behave like surfeited kids never been satisfied. No matter what you get for free.

you mean opt out the jump gate graphics animation due to players complaining being sick ? yeah that have been done , oh wait

For free ? I am paying for this game and to be honest , I never asked for this graphics changes , only free I have is headache and eye strain.

If all these new icons are so good, why is there a tooltip popping up to explain what they are for?

Players complaing beeing sick by a jump gate animation? Stop playing video games. You agreed to an EULA and you are paying for playing the game. You are not an investor. You are an end user. Simple.

One other odd thing I noticed is the windows go dark when I go to move the camera around then go back to normal when I finally release the camera button. I guess it's so that when fully transparent the windows get 'more' transparent, but with transparency set lower or to 0 it makes them darker.

Feedback: UI, Graphics, part 2 (update)

  • I noticed this morning that ALL the open windows fade while you are dragging the camera around, making them more transparent. They then darken when you stop rotating. This is VERY DISTRACTING. It's like having more moving objects on screen- it draws your eyes to it. Make it stop.

  • Same for fading them in to highlight the active window. I mentioned this in previous post, but it's really annoying, so I'll mention it again. Using the border highlight is more then enough, don't change the readability of the window while I'm in the midst of reading it. Example: I will read my overview, looking for a ship to target. I then click on said ship to target it, and the overview fades from deep, high contrast black to a medium contrast gray with bright highlight blocks on selected text. Now I have to RE-read the overview window to orient my eyes to the new look. This is A. NOY. ING. It's bad. Stop it.

  • Anti-Aliasing now seems to affect the clarity of text in the title bars. I have turned AA off because of this.

  • Turning AA off also improved the 1995 era icons as well. They look more like 1997 era icons now that they are less pixelated.

  • AA also reduces quality of ship textures, at least on the newly redone hulls like the Apoc. I think that, in general, the built-in AA system of EVE just isn't suited for the new graphics. I'd go back to forcing multisample AA with my video driver, but I use two monitors now and thus can't use fullscreen mode (have to use fixed window) so that's impossible. The graphics options REALLY need an update.

  • Not Rhea-related, but using one client on two screens is still borked. Too many windows center between the screens and can't be dragged. Popups, Warning boxes, NES, ISIS, Character Recustomization, even the log in screen. All of these need to be adjusted for two monitors, to adjust with the camera offcenter setting, or even better become draggable and remember their positions. The new star map is a perfect example of how this should be done. Do more of that.

  • Did I mention that the icons are ugly? I think I mentioned that. Maybe even more then once. Or did I? Here, I'll mention it. Just one more time. To be sure. They're ugly. They look like 1997 era Microsoft Office. They are actually harder to use because they have no color or borders and just blend in with each other. They are bad. Bad bad bad. As in, the opposite of good. Bad.

A corporation needs customers to pay his employees, survive and prepare for any incoming competition. So they can't afford to lose some of them by pure arrogance or stupid excuses like the EULA. Simple.

I do hope that you aren't a CEO in real life, or the lifetime of your company will be very short.

Anyway, there are some options to disable some annoyances like the camera shake and stuff. And recently, they released the (very great) sound options, prooving that CCP can do a GREAT work when they really want to. It is just that they still underestimate some new annoyances who appeared with earlier expansions, and so didn't release the corresponding options to cover them.

Hi All,

I just want to say thank you CCP for all your efforts, keep up the good work. Smile

But! I just checked the new ship rendering (PBR). One word I can see. Catastrophic!!! Ugh No offence... When I look at Apoc for example, the shinny golden parts look much better and the surroundings are also reflecting in it, which is cool... and there is a big BUT again... This rendering technic shows us the low-detailed ship models, all of them needs to be updated to a HD model. Actually every ship looks more or less the same now. Shinny, same color, no differences anymore. Let's take Mega hulls for example. Mega/Navy Mega/Vindi. All looks the same now.. Why??? Why the vindicator isn't black anymore??? Kador Abaddon looks much worse also... Black parts not black anymore... Plasticky instead... We want more "blackness"!!!

And People! who the hell choose that new skin for the Rev?? Shocked OMG!!! that more than hurts just to look at... Why not Kador/Khanid??? Sad

Anyway thanks for listening...

New icons are really hard 2 read. New GUI is terrible (kills my eyes....'dat contrast). What have u done with "ship materials"? One half is plastic and another one is so damn shiny that it could blind a person.

good thinks:
- i have better preformance/fps in many "rooms" like mission or ALL belts! rooms with no "fogs, nebulas"
- the new icons at the leftside are not bad. have to get used to...
- have set to "carbon" preset, transperence 30%, no blur - looks nearly like my old eve...
but there is a big problem...
- all my windows have hold there positions and sizes - after patch! wow! thx!
- the overview settings was not killed!

bad thinks brings RHEA:
- i CAN NOT change the eve graphic resolution anymore. only my desktop resololution (1920x1080) is avaible!
- "fogs or nebulas" in missions or so kills the fps extremly!
opt-out or so would be nice (without deactivate other effects)
- i have lower fps outside, in front of stations!
- a warning of sleeper creapers in highsec, in belts or at custom offices would be nice... a dev blog...

- finally the big ui problem:
the background color of active windows is to bright, not transparent enough!
especially with pinned windows. the transparency/ brightness for pinned and unpinned,
the contrast is bad. windows must be adjust!
for example:
have a unpinned window open, then open a pinned window. and its over the other unpinned...
its extremly hard to read the text in the upper pinned. there is no more contrast! wich text belongs to what window?
can follow me?
color and transparency sliders like before would be nice!

thx for attention ccp

I hope there is an option to get the old style back! Get a headache from the new one. So I can't play, turned down screen to a minimum but even that won't help me.

First impression was... uhm...

Well, when logging first time after the update, I was as usual on one of my Amarr ships docked in an Amarr station, and the UI received the Amarr theme...
All that gold sparkling around can be disturbing even for the Empress. Ugh

I agree with people saying that the flat monochrome icons are more difficult to recognize.

The new beta map is cool, but why put the [x] button in the middle of the topbar instead of the right top corner like all other windows?

I appreciated some new items in the store Smile
Unfortunately the preview on avatar function needs some improvements, when trying the bundle I cannot test all 3 items together, and trying the catsuit while wearing a dress that cannot be removed is pretty useless.

UI:

I will probably memorise the new icons as quickly as I memorised the old ones - until then however it's really slow as I have to wait for the tooltips to come up... and it's set long so that the tooltip on my damage control doesn't stop me activating other modules (though my damage control tooltip does pop over my other modules far too frequently).
I'm not used to them yet but I'll reserve judgement until I've spent a while with them.

The colours on the other hand are terrible!
And following the advice of others and reducing my transparency makes them worse!!!
Why is the only background blooming black (or a hint off black) ffs?!?

I find the blurred window background horrible too - with the transparency set to maximum it actually makes me feel like I have less screen real-estate than before (and given that I often couldn't see my ship with the number of windows I feel I need open before that's saying something!)
I think it's simply the fact that the blurred background seems to be showing stuff but in fact it offers zero information because brackets don't show through and that makes it feel like it's offering less than before.

Unless CCP plans to replace every colour icon in the game, from module buttons to god knows what else, with nasty less intuitive monochrome ones for literally no purpose, then I don't understand why they even started with the neocom.

Don't fix what isn't broken, must be a saying that hasn't reached Iceland yet.

I literally cannot stress enough, how utterly pointless this entire UI revamp was, of developer time and resources.

The only consolation anyone is finding, is when trying to get it as closely back to how it was before as possible.

So, it was entirely a waste of time. It now just looks like a worse version of how it was before.

I'm not a god fearing person, but I would literally pray, if it made any difference in CCP's willingness to simply revert it all.
