Like I rarely complain about this game and have luckily been spared from the bad textures, although I only flew a crane mk II yesterday.

However I have some issues
*the icons are to small
*to generic
*we now have the option between transparent UI & more transparent UI,makes it hard to see the text when the background is bright
*text font doesn't fit the new UI
*slight eye strain & mild headache, but nothing as worse as I had from games in the mid 1990's

I find that the colour 'Dark Matter' approaches the old UI the closest

i have respect for you guys, i always backed up CCP even at the blackest of hours, i feel sad if i speak too harsh or shet on all of your hard work, i know you guys are trying to get things better for eve's sake,

as i stated before i really dont have an issue with the term of new.

new ships are good, new map is already proving usefull and looks really beautifull,

but this new looks, man they suck i gave it an another shot this morning, i thought i will get used to it eventually,

people adapts to wars, hunger and all the other worse situations, whats a gui and few new looks to adapt right?

well **** everything modern, it looks too childish ccp it has no weight in it, it looks like a glittered sunshine smart phone theme, it is really making me sick, psychally.

it looks like a playstation game, it looks like it designed for 8 year olds, it makes eve look like a casual game, i really got disgusted with eve in current state, it ripped apart the dark, harsh, cold, alone space feeling and replaced it with total 'yiey shiny i love shiny uuuu shiny' feeling, i feel like im riding an unicorn in space and every frigging thing is made of sugar and sweet potatoes.

when i open eve i feel like this now; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZyhrYis509A , song keeps ramming in my head, save me ccp
, this is wrong this is not eve, this is joystick casualness.

I just have one question and one comment.

The comment: The new blueish buttons in UI are a step back. Hard to read, no color, flat appearance, icons w/o meaning.
The question: Why ?!

But the same works in reverse; the less complaints you get, the higher the quality of the finished product. Why are we stating basic marketing here, I thought we were supposed to have brains engaged in here?

Only the cargo hold icon falls a bit out of the scheme. The cargo hold icon the main menu/Neocom, not the one in the HUD. It would also better if both had the same icon.

I just took a short jump into space. Looks like the Selected item panel is clearer and has more contrast, too.
Also, no negative impacts on performance so far (I play on minimum hardware).

I am probably hot candidate for defenestration, but I do really like the Gallente ships better now. Yes, please make them less reflective, but all in all its really nicer. The turquoise color was not bad and perhaps they should have kept the color, but they look more believable.

What I dont like is Caldarian ships, look at Buzzard. It looks like something from cheap Chinese street market. The metal looks like metal, but its way to shiney. These ships are big, there is lot of space debris, micro-asteroids, combat-debris etc. The surface cannot look like dogs b.....ks, can it?

SoE ships look kinda dull to me now, it seems like they did not get the render upgrade to me.

UI changes: I dont have any sentimet towards old schemes, but there is too low of a contrast difference for selected item in overview, The selected item is just shade lighter, its difficult for me to see the difference sometimes.

I don't like the new colours of the UI. The icon are ok

Can we get the ability to turn off the white frost completely? I don't like the windows going white when you select them. It also makes the text difficult to read. We use to have a great system. Which allowed us to choose the colours we wanted our UI. Can we please get the ability to select all colours back?

The new GUI is a matter of taste. To me a reduction makes sense because icons and windows have a special purpose in EVE but they shouldn't be visually super-important. The less distractive or dominant a GUI is the better it's for the gameplay. I wanto to focus on the backgroud where the action is and not on icons. They have a function like a switch. Nothing more.

The change of the GUI is polarizing because many people think that a good icon has to look 3d, with a shiny surface, 16 million colors and a drop shadow. The main reason for this is that computers became more powerful with better graphics. So designers started to play with colors and effects because it was possible and exciting.

Apple for instance changed the whole look and feel of their iOS and the response wasn't really positive because many people can't deal with changes of things they got used to over years. There are not really many options left in GUI design changes. If you drop effects which not really making a GUI more intuitive you end up in a classic typography and icon design. For instance street signs or a guidance system are designed like this for a good and approved reason. Less is more is a major and true rule in design.

I personally like the new look because it's simple, plain, graphical, reduced. The windows have some Sci-Fi interface feeling. Its uniform look is just good for the main screen where I want to see nicely rendered ships in space and not a distractive overlay all the time.

The new shading of the ships looks great in some cases like the new Confessor. But many surfaces are too shiny in my opinion. It will cause some kind of mininature look. Maybe CCP should adjust this a bit. As far as I remember CCP mentioned that most of the textures are not prepared for the PBR yet. Overhauling things like this is a huge task. And what should we have learned in EVE? Patience.

The Entire UI just seems less readable and harder on the eyes than the old one. At the very least I'd like to see an option to remove the window highlight thing, I don't need my chat window changing brightness every time I move my camera in space.

The new neocom buttons I'm not really a fan of, but its pretty minor compared to the rest of the UI.

A lot of the new ship graphics are pretty awesome though especially Amarr.

Simply put new station UI icons suck balls IMO. Paintbrush much? I want colorful icons back. Rest is fine. Oh wait... why release map that is not usable for exploration? I'm not a beta toster y u don't have any beta tosters?

I am a designer. But I do employ other designers. Not this one though, unless she learns a bit about color, contrast, and visual cues. Which are missing in the new UI. Must have been another alumna of the same Uni :)

Then simply don't use it. It's opt-in and this way they get a lot of feedback to improve it.

As I occupied myself with the topic of maps and orbits recently without a satisfying result I had a close look at the orbits in the new Star Map Beta.
The result:
http://i.imgur.com/5CzdIL8.jpg

As opposed to the old map, in the new Star Map Beta all orbits and the sun appear on the same plane, which in many systems is simply impossible when taking the coordinates of planets in account.

Right now this is not a big issue as you can't actually do much with the zoomed-in system map yet, but for making strategic decisions and for probing you need the actual planet locations (which then will have correct orbits).

After playing for an hour last night it felt like my brain was dribbling out my ear. Give us the option to have old UI if we want it. CCP don't want law suits cos their game has caused seizures or something.

Tough to explain the feeling when launching the game..but I'll give it a shot:

- GUI needed refresh, and some new things are welcome, but it is too uniform now. There are no more distinction between panels since everything has the same colors, icons included. Refreshing doesn't mean removing all creativity imo...and this is typical those days, everything has to look the same!
- Those physical effects on ships have been pushed too far. Everything looks so fake...we went from a game that was kind of "raw" in terms of ship graphics to something super shiny that makes everything look like plastic. And there was no need to push it that far...the eve population doesn't super shiny things to play the game, just decent improvement.
- Star map is good. Too bad you need to delog and relog to get it

Also, when are you going to add automatically the new classes of ships to the CCP default overviews? Yes, I am thinking about the T3 destroyers :)

to be honest the version of the UI upgrade that hit tranquility is not that bad.. in a number of ways its actually better than the old ui.

You should have seen the version that was intially proposed..... CCP did listen to the singularity testers feedback and made changes.

I don t think they went far enough with the changes they made... but they did listen.

about the only things i really dislike about the new ui are :

- the corner brackets
- the excessive active tab glow.
- unnessasary double line at bottom of windows.

Would like :

- return of RGB sliders
- on/off per window for the blur.
- slightly more brightness to com channel blink. (but not as bright as the first version that hit singularity... that was blinding)
