new mobile structure that transports from A to B automatically

A structure which has a point A and point B. You anchor your point A somewhere in space and whatever you put in the cargospace of point A will be automatically hauled by NPC transport ships to point B but very slowly in smaller chunks. The dangers involved in owning these sort of "supply chains" is 1. the structure itself can get killed with all that loot inside it 2. The npc haulers can get intercepted and ganked (sometimes legally if the owner is a criminal or has a kill right on him). 3. Point B can be easily camped in anticipation for the owner to come haul the stuff.

The npc's could have their own highway that is separated from capsuleers whenever they pass through gates and stations, i guess the other alternative is npc transport ships that look very official with white paintjob or something.

Killrights mechanic would benefit a lot from this probably.

Also i think these structures has the potential for you to hire different faction NPC pvp forces to escort each little transport ship. So whoever attacks your transport ships has to deal with the NPC's.

The cargo corp you are looking for already exists as player run entities...

What is the point in automating a process when you can get players to engage with each other and the game in a number of meaningful ways doing the same thing?

Less automation in EvE not more.

Not supported.

the point is not to give ability to transport large quantities of stuff. the point is to give a motive for people to earn "passive isk" which in turn leads to other people wanting to exploit that motive. its the circle of eve isnt it

I actually see some opportunities for content here. Folks hanging around the endpoints or stargates waiting to pop the NPC haulers and go suspect in the process. Other folks waiting around to shoot the folks going suspect, etc.

But I don't think that this interesting new content would be in any way better than the existing content of players hauling the stuff on their own.

Interesting idea, but not supported because there's no net content gain.

Some more than others.

We were teasing a corpmate last night that he might as well be an officer spawn based on the number of times he's fallen asleep in his Rattlesnake. Every red in the region has him watch-listed.

CCP should add more NPC 0.0 space to open it up and liven things up: the Stepping Stones project.

-1 for more automation in EvE. Get a buddy to haul for you.

Just another in a string of bad ideas from OP.

what about automation is bad exactly

also this idea doesnt seem very much about automation, in fact it seems like it would take a lot planning and concern for safety to be able to manage such a mobile structure successfully. to a point where one would have to involve other players, so its not really one person job, especially if somebody decides to try and grief you while you try to run this type of operation (then you definately will want to get others involved)

automation is bad because it means players are interacting less, which means that less content is generated from those interactions.....
if you can get a player to do the same thing for you, and thus create interactions, why would you do the same thing (or close enough) using NPC's?

For posting an idea into F&I: come up with idea, try and think how people could abuse this, try to fix your idea - loop the process until you can't see how it could be abused, then post to the forums to let us figure out how to abuse it..... If your idea can be abused, it WILL be.

when you say enough passive income you mean primarily through manufacturing? never tried that stuff Blink well tried but got bored quickly

being pos owners and planetary interaction are also very tied to manufacturing type of career. which i dislike since i want to make passive income while pursuing other careers too.
