Amarr=USTZ, Minmatar=EUTZ.
I've never really understood why.

Particular corps, or alliances can easily fall into a set timezone, but how does an entire faction in an MMO that holds numerous alliances, and even more individual corps end up with such timezone parameters? Do those of European social mindsets have more relation to the Minmatar RP cause of wanting freedom and equallity? While those in the US line up more with Amarrian religious crusades?

Honestly, somehow in an always online MMO, the factions feel less like RP and in-game competition (Amarr vs Minmatar) and more like a regional or national competition (US vs EU).

So do real life cultural sensitivities and attitudes play a role in which faction in an online game that a geographical/political region just might as well unilaterally align to for a game?

I pretty much stopped reading here. You were not there, you havent listened to anything anyone who was has said, and you really dont care how wrong you are as long as you can blame 'mechanics'.

You are back and back on form cearain, perhaps you are wronger than ever.

It took 2 weeks to decide who was going to be dominant in burn huola? GTFO re re, the conflict lasted because both sides wanted to win.

Ok I see you are still committed to posting how wrong I am despite admitting you don't read what I wrote. Yes I was there for "burn huola." And that was up in the air for a bit as to who would win. Both sides always want to win. Roll sometimes it takes a bit longer to know who will win. But that usually gets sorted out fairly quickly. No I wasn't there this last time people fought for kourm/huola. I am not surprised to hear Zen say this though:

I wasn't surprised because that is how eve always was has been and will be when you have sides fighting over a small area. When you have only a small area you either have the numbers or you don't.

That's a very interesting thought.

I'm an New Zealander so fits into AUTZ and this country is incredibly liberal, having recently and being the first country in the world to legalise same sex marriage, and I'm a huge product of where I live..... yet I role play for arguably the furthest extreme of NZ that is on offer.....

Well, I guess, a birthplace of player is irrelevant to choosing sides in the sense of roleplay. For example, two years ago most russian players were engaged in Caldari and Minmatar militia. Now Gallente and Amarr russian community are stronger than the remaining two.

On behalf of Imperial Outlaws. I hereby accept the surrender of Iron Oxide.

Please contact Shalee Lianne to arrange reparation payments for the damage you've done in your struggle for "freedom", preferably paid in slaves.

I want to take the moment to ask Ice Fire Warriors, The Periphery, Smile 'n' Wave and the Minmatar Militia to consider an official surrender post as well, just so we can get the paperwork done.

Edit: AMARR VICTOR!

ROFL, we still have our weapons, systems, and our warships, just cause a few have stepped down, don't mean the Allies have surrendered, come to Gallente space, we dare you, and we'll wave at you with all our guns!!

I think it has to do with most people simply trying to have it easy. If you're from the USTZ and go join Minmatar, you'll have a hard time doing anything due to all the fleets and gangs now. Same thing for a guy from EUTZ who joins the Amarr (well not anymore, there's nobody left to care on the Minmatar side atm).

So people flock to the strong side and stay there because most of the time it's easier and alot more fun (and alot less frustrating) than doing things the hard way. Especially in a game like eve that rewards ganging up so much.
