Every once and a while CCP does Live events which are great to have, and I would certainly like more of them, but I do see how that may not always be feasible. Unfortunately, outside live events, players don't seem to have THAT much ability to impact the lore.

There seem to be interesting news stories that crop up from time to time which are great, but we, the players tend to mostly just be passive observers. I was thinking it would be great if when news stories are posted up, a few resources related to tthe posting are created, so that players can actually interact with it. A good example of this would be the recent resource drive where players had an impact, but a live event didn't actually have to happen.

Right now we have this bright star being seen all over New Eden and players are certainly interested. Let us find out more. I have seen Roleplayers mention stuff like scanning the region, or sending out probes, and I know I have messaged some NPC contacts (which don't seem to be looked at by the devs anymore :( ). It would be AWESOME if players could interact a bit with devs to have some information trickled back to the community. Have player send a message that they'd like to probe a region and have CCP send back some results rather than players just making them up, and PLEASE, answer your NPC's mailboxes more often.

EvE has a great lore, and there is a community that loves interacting with it, so please, CCP, let us actually interact with it more outside of live events.

Wasn't there a team in CCP dedicated to just that, years ago? I might be mistaken, as I wasn't playing EVE at the time, but it's what I gathered from some old posts and news.

CCP have an internal Live Events team. The problem is that team also do a lot of other activities.
What you might be thinking of are the Aurora team, who were volunteers if I remember right, and who created one of EVE's largest scandals by playing favourites in 'events' that gave away valuable loot. So it's almost certain CCP won't ever repeat a volunteer team.

Indeed, CCP has a live events team, but it isn't a dedicated team, it's just a group of devs who also occasionally do live events. I can understand if they are too busy to do actual live events, but at least some involvement would be nice.
