I was concorded for drones killing dead enemy drones?

I was flagged in hi-sec, 3 guys attacked me, I killed all 3. While collecting the loot my drones were busy killing their old drones automatically, I didn't lock any drones or tell my drones to attack. My drones were defending from just the drones that were attacking me.

Without any target locked, no AE weapons equipped, suddenly concord said I had committed a criminal act and came and wiped me out.

What gives, is this supposed to happen? I wonder if perhaps the blue flag timer from the first guy who attacked me had worn off and thus my drones killing his old drones became a criminal act. Seems a bit screwy since I didn't even target anything.

Your safety should not have been red.
Literally nothing that gets you CONCORDed is possible if your safety is yellow or green.

I suspect that as you say the LE timer ran out and thus your drones shot a neutral entity and got you concorded.

This only can happen with safety red setting. To prevent it, you can set it to green or yellow.

It's probably worth petitioning this. As your drones are also not meant to be able to commit criminal acts without your direct instruction. For the LE timer to have run out it must have been 15 minutes after either of you shot each other.

Your drones knew perfectly well you would get CONCORD on you. It was the perfect opportunity to break their shackles and join up with the nearest Rogue Drone hive. You will never see them again.

OT- OP you should take your drones off aggressive, that will avoid this in the future. If what you are saying is true, I would petition it.

Also, as mentioned, safety should only be on red if you are suicide ganking.

You just learned an important lesson. Never set your safety to red in highsec unless you are in warp to a suicide gank target.

If your safety was not red, petition the loss. If it was red, it's your own fault.

You need safety on Red to use a lot of the ECM modules and it is sometimes hard to remember to put the safety back to green whenever you cross back to highsec from lo. That said you REALLY do not want to hit ECM Burst by mistake when in hisec if you forgot to flip the safety back.

Even if the safety was red, criminal actions shouldn't be performed by your ship without your input. This sounds like an oversight to me, as opposed to intentional behavior.

^^: That text box no longer pops up, once you set it red you're good to go no more "YOU WILL REGRET SHOOTING THIS THING," warning.

This is another reason in the long list of why drone management needs a serious overhaul.

My safety was set to red.

But even so, it still isn't right. The first guy I killed from the fight gained a killright on me when concord came for me. So obviously it was because my drones, which had been finishing off the drones that belonged to the other 2 guys, now moved on to taking action against the first guys drones. His drones still had me targetted as they had been attacking me, obviously that's why my drones took action against his drones without any input from me.

The whole fight was less than 10 minutes. I believe the blue countdown timer that you get from a pilot aggression toward you when you are flashy yellow only lasts for 5 minutes? It's not 15 minutes.

A simple fix for this would be to make it so attacking drones that nobody is in control has no criminal consequences. It seems stupid anyway that you are concorded for attacking abandoned drones.

The only way Drones will auto attack is if they shoot at you so it's a bug.

Petition CCP. Make sure to reference Skynet. Considering it would take 15 minutes for your LE timer to wear off, and that even a few tech 1 hobogblins would be able to clear off 15 Ogre IIs within that time frame, your drones should not have gotten you killed, unless you accidentally ordered them t attack something, once your timer was down.
