Expanded Fatigue

IMHO, I think the JG fatigue is the beginning of needed changes in null sec.

Another aspect that needs to be re-considered to stimulate null sec into a more diverse and expanded playing field is pilots logging off while whole fleets, convoys or squads are moved ship by ship into a given area for whatever particular objective they may have.

As is already known these ships then "Disappear into space." for whatever time period is needed or the result of connection issues.

We all know that the current game mechanic allowing this covers pilots in case of internet failure or other unexpected login issues so to attempt to change this would be unfair to those who have these difficulties.

At the same time, ships disappearing into space is a game mechanic that is overly exploited taking away from the realistic environment and movement of ships in space and the risks faced when entering hostile space, null sec, low sec, attacking other alliances etc.

So how might this situation possibly be remedied without removing the safeguard while at the same time adding even greater realism to the game and more challenging options that benefit players in their overall game play experience?

Several possible ways.

First, leave the mechanic as it is so that these unexpected issues with the internet remain as a safeguard but expand the fatigue mechanic so that pilots incur fatigue which increases exponentially the longer they maintain a presence in hostile space or territories in space in which they are not part of.

This kind of fatigue is more realistic in a space environment.

Secondly, consider introducing a mobile docking bay limited to being able to dock x number of ships. The mobile docking bay would be a deployable structure, subject to attack and also requiring fuel to sustain anchoring time. These mobile docking bays might also be available in different sizes and ship capacities for ship docking and of course require various skills.

Yes, this partially exists in the form of POS's but POS's were established within a different playing field then what EVE has now become.

Third, establish a reasonable time frame to allow for internet connection issues-possibly up to seven days and after the time period expires, the ship would then re-appear back into space, incur the penalty or is attacked.

Another possibility might even be returning the ship automatically to a predetermined station after a pre-determined period of non activity. Perhaps the corporate home base or for independents, the station they first appeared in.

No ship should ever be able to log off indefinitely in null sec or low sec space without incurring some kind of penalty after a reasonable amount of time and the above suggestions attempt to at least stimulate conversation and ideas along these lines.

Bear in mind that these suggested changes promote corporations and alliances to work together in an expanded playing field along these lines while at the same time providing greater challenges as mentioned above in the game play experience as a whole.

Thanks for reading this.

So a player coild be playing on Thursday, lose connection and be logged out. Then they don't get to log back in and go away on the Saturday only to reappear on the follwing thursday when they can do nothing at all about it? -1 i think...

Uhh no. Exactly what problem are you trying to fix anyways? A player who is logged off cannot do anything to you. When they are logged on, blap them.

No for the same resigns in the topic about the same mechanic but involving supers.

No. This is a terrible idea.

CCP should add more NPC 0.0 space to open it up and liven things up: the Stepping Stones project.
