Wouldn't it be simpler to just gank anyone who has the audacity to touch "your" asteroid?

No, your rights end in optimal+2*falloff

Tarrible. Tarrible tarrible tarrible.

a) Miner 1 locks on a roid. Miner 2 locks on 0.5 seconds later. Miner 2 gets blown out of the sky by the nearest muppet in a destroyer.

b) Ice belts would be a loltrastrophe. Which actually might be a plus...

c) New players confused as hell

d) What right do you have to a roid anyways?

e) Troll players by sitting with a single Miner 1 (or mining drone really) in a destroyer, hogging all the rocks.

Quite honestly, if you're mining in a system where there's more than one player per belt, you're mining in the wrong system.

Some things have changed whilst I was on sabbatical, but others haven't.

In reviewing a lot of the more recent controversy on 'freighter ganking', I have determined that everything is mostly fine. A hauler taking things to and fro market(s) is, of course, engaging in PvP - and has chosen to do so. Balance tweaks to some ships may be reasonable.

A pilot who takes from 'your' can is now flagged as suspect to everyone! Definitely a harsh improvement.

But a miner (especially those in NPC Corps), however, who engages in PvP with 'you' (assuming you're already mining) gets away with competing/PvP with you - and there is flat out nothing (that makes sense) that you can do about it!

You could:

- declare war if they aren't in an NPC corps -> you lose as you cannot mine (assuming that's what you wanted to do)

- bump them lots -> again, you're not mining, they might a bit, nothing is gained, you lose

- gank them (takes a bit of effort and may not be practicable) -> you still lose, although hopefully less in value than they do; but they get kill rights which may mean you still might lose out (possibly a lot)

But effectively, whilst they blatantly choose to engage you in PvP, there is not much that can be done.

Suggested change:

That if not in a Fleet with you, anyone that starts to mine a 'roid that you are mining already receives a Suspect Flag just as if they took from a can of yours.

Additional 'tweak' that would be necessary - make Ice 'roids' a lot smaller and anomaly belts subsequently 'bigger' to balance.

NB - 'PvP' means anything that involves engaging with other players, including all aspects of manufacture, the market and creating opportunities (eg by blowing stuff up). EVE is a harsh mistress.Big smile

This is an issue of courtesy really isn't it. As in RL some people have manners and others don't.

- If you declare war they will invariably dock up or switch corp. If they fight, and more often than not lose, they will attract more wardecs.

- Bumping does work if you can bump them far enough. They will move on or dock up.

- Ganking. If possible get them in a Mackinaw or a Hulk. A big loss will really grate them.

My OP in C&P on how overpowered the Skiffs currently are is attracting plenty of interest. I think I might add a proposal OP here as something needs to be done about it really.

For 'normal' players, yes - but I was also thinking of it as a Player-enforcing anti-bot idea.

For the bots certainly won't be 'courteous'.Twisted

Based on the sheer lack of killboard activity for your current character.... a 9 year old in an 11 man alliance.... that also has no kills since its inception....

I'm going to have to say that none of the reasons your putting forward is the actual motivation for your suggestion....

Post with your main maybe?

This is an excellent idea...

for gankers. it'll give them a mechanic to gank a barge with virtually no concord intervention.

my guess is OP is a CODE agent trying a potato idea to see what happens Lol
