ONE MAN CREW - solo PVP by many

The video includes 15 fights that have been selected by our panel of judges. The fights are carefully picked to include a wide spectrum of solo PVP that both motivate newbies and impress veterans. However, frigate and destroyer fights were excluded. The total length is 66 minutes.

List of winners

To those of you who don’t know about the project. It is a solo PVP contest run by Aldap (The char has been sold and is now under new hands) and I. The concept is simple: The contestants recorded their solo fights and submitted the best one(s). A panel of judges then picked the 15 best which have been selected for this video and win prizes.

Aldap was a well-known solo PVPer who had inspired many. However he had to quit EVE and decided to raise money for the project by selling his char. He has done many great things for the EVE solo PVP community and without him this project would not have been a thing.

A huge thank you to our sponsors evebet and Garmon who allowed us to reward our winners with great prizes.

Also thanks to the additional contributors who bumped those rewards even higher.

Just a quick summary of prizes:
Quote:

Every pilot, whose fights were featured in the video, received 1.5 bil ISK + PLEX.

The 4 pilots, who were chosen for the special awards (see below), received 3 bil ISK + PLEX + Pirate Battleship.

1) The "Kickass Moves" award.
For example: picking up drones on field after yours are destroyed.
Offlining mods during fight to win on that last %s, etc...

2) The "Creative Setup" award.
Original fit. Out of the box thinking behind the ship/situation.

3) The "Balls Deep" award.
Includes things such as: fighting heavily outnumbered. Fighting outclassed ship-wise.
ECM-wise, or just generally being brave as hell against the odds.

4) The "Motivational for New Pilots" award.
Fight that gives hope, like winning with a simple ship that a new pilot would see and smile "I could do that"

And the pilot, who was chosen for the best unlinked solo fight of the video, will receive 10 bil ISK.

The pilot who made best use of links would receive the Links of Destiny award granting 2 Bil ISK + HG (Slave or Crystal) implant set.

DHB_Wildcat (one of the judges) decided to donate a pirate Battleship for any pilot that made it into the video with any Battleship hull. Thanks Wildcat :-)

Additional prizes were handed out. Check the thread with the winner announcement for details.

A friendly reminder to all that are entertained or encouraged by what's been released today: Mizhir put a significant amount of his free time into this, time that could have been spent on more immediately enjoyable or rewarding activities IRL and ingame, and asked no cut of the prize pool, so feel free to donate to his wallet. :-)

I'm rather dissapointed with average quality of fights in this one. Only a couple from fiveteen presented top notch piloting, namely big miker and Pytorion of course.

Thorax winning newbie award is a little less impressive once you realize that Loki had Nullifier and Covert Ops subsystems.

Ferox while ballsy warping into 4 Thoraxes somehow managed to burn out almost every single med slot which is quite a mistake.

Grand Prize was also massively underwhelming for what should have been the best of the fights. A frigate, Ishtar who got eaten up by gate guns and a Stabber well off his gang. I was really suprized when the clip ended with only those on kill counter.

Vargur was meh. Three-way kinda made it less exciting to watch when they stopped paying attention to the Marauder.

I'm also very dissapointed by the editing. While audio being out of sync a few times is a minor slip, there were at least a few rendering artifacts left in the movie with frames dropping or freezing up. While I understand those blue-ish holographs took time to render, I'm still puzzled why video took so long to edit. I mean, numerous times here on forums have we been told that every fight has different UI and requires special approach, but pilot name and rotating ship were always in the same place on the screen. Only the soundwaves were moving a little bit in the same general area. Intro wasn't anything mindblowing either. Did you seriously put half a year into it and that's the best achieveable result?

On the other hand it's still worth watching for at least a few fights in it. Earlier mentioned Naga and Navy Mega were awesome. Liked God's Apples Eagle, kinda reminded me of Garmonation except I think this fight was better than Garmons.
Lord's Servant doesn't fail to deliver with Dunk Phoenix and Skyflyer getting super lucky finding incompetent campers and moonwalking from them is also quite enjoyable.

Will reserve judgement until the video is HD ready. Waited this long, I can wait a bit longer ;)

EDIT: Really enjoyed the video, I liked that there was a nice variety between the fights, both in terms of the ships flown and the different PVP styles shown.

Reserving judgement until I can watch it in HD. Glad its finally out.

EDIT:
Three Fights really stood out from the rest for me.

Mad Props and respect to Servant's Lord with the Phoenix, Awesome fit, I could not believe what I was Watching.

Awesome Fight From Big Miker, but what else is to be expected from him?

Blood of God's, Loved the Vargur Jump onto the naga, and the jump back into the fray to clean up some extra kills.

Dunno if the others who voted on these fights would like to share why they voted the way they did, but I thought it would be nice to see how the judges were processing the fights and why they picked the ones they did. So I guess I'll go first

the awards -

Motivational for newbies..... It was initailly awarded to TheUnholyTerror, that is until I personally delayed the project a few days (for this I am sorry) but I could not let Jamir's fight go. To me, fighting way off the gate in a bubble against a large number of ships is ballsy! And he killed a ton of them before dieing in glory!

Now thats not to take away from terror's fight. Fighting a t3 in a t1 is ballsy as hell, however when I dug a little deeper and saw the loki was a cloaky prober only capable of about 160 dps, I had to fight more for jamir. I hope the other judges tell you why they picked terrors, because they had some great points I dont remember.

Kickass moves - came down to a vargur mjd'ing to get another kill, or pytorian's awesome manual piloting. For me it was a no brainer..... piloting so you can not only hit, but kill frigs with BS sized guns was awesome to watch!

Creative Setup - When I saw the dreadnaught doing what it was doing, I literally said this..... "I didn't know you could ******* do that! I have to train Cap skills now!?" I had been playing this game a long time now, if you can make me say that, you did something ******* great!

Balls deep - Another award I fought tooth and nail for, several of us judges were at each others throat for this one. I personally chose the brave ferox..... I did this because, ITS IN A BELT vs 4 THORAX ALL WITH ECM DRONES! (**** ecm drones) nuff said

Grand Prize and links of destiny - I personally voted for big miker's nano navy mega for grand prize, even though it didnt fit the rules. I was unable to fight for this like I was the other two. So like a pouty 2 year old, I said **** it and left it as my vote for the grand prize even though it wouldnt count. Sorry to the winner of the grand prize but in my eyes, that fight was the best we had. So naturally it was a major landslide for the links of destiny award.

So thats how and why I voted the way I voted. Hope it gives some insight, and I really hope the other judges tell how and why they voted the way they did too, so you can all see the various backrounds of our piloting judges and how cool it was to see how everyone saw each fight differently.

Grats to the winners! and thank ******* god we have a non ***** frig vid to watch!

Editing is very nice, slick and simple. The music matches with the fights and it has a nice high-low-high pacing throughout. Some great fights, some pretty blah, a couple of memorable ones with brilliant endings.

Will be saving this on HDD.
